Chris: I'm glad it worked out for you. I'm going over to Pete's to load the sedan today to drop it off at the stripper (no, not the one at the topless bar) tomorrow.

Here is the sedan being dropped off at the stripper. Should have it back in about a week. Should we you-tube the chopping process?

You were smart to have a photographic inventory of the garnish moldings and other miscellaneous bits and pieces that you dropped off. It will resolve any arguments when you go to retrieve the body and pieces are "lost".

I don't know about anybody's miss placed items, but at Strip Clean George gave me a detailed reciept showing all my items. Seems very professional and straight up guy.

Without a doubt. They also take digital pictures of the parts. I was referring to the old days before digital cameras.

Any documentary you wanna make about the build would be great by me. Maybe a first startup and /or a first test drive vid would be cool too!

Yes, on the youtube video. How many inches 2 1/2 or 3? Stretch the top or lean the front post? I can't wait.

Hey Rick, looks like you and Pwood are having as much fun as you did 30 years ago, except there is an old guy in the pics with Pete. I was wondering why you hadn't hit TV up for the headers, but I'm glad he's going to do them. Say Hi to all the old club guys you see for me and I will let you know when I'm headed down there again. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

That original build inspired me to build 2 chopped 2 dr highboys over the years, 2.5 and 3.5 inchs, always thought the deeper chop was the best. Saw that last car at So-Cals open house. Weedburner, what do you mean old guys? After talking with you at the LARS that baby face can't carry you forever!

Thanks for the help with Dale! Breathing all those paint fumes when HE was YOUNG has affected his perception...he thinks he never got older! He wishes! HAHA

Another piece of the puzzle has fallen into place.
Bob Blum did the original lettering on the sedan. I had not seen Bob for about 25 years and took the chance of going by where he used to live. He still lived there and after some talking about the old days and guys we hung out with, he agreed to do it again.

Thank you very little Krylon. As for paint fumes from a long time ago Rick, it does help to keep one young, or at least young looking.

Hi Rick, talked to George yesterday he said should be done today. Trying hard to strip out the cab so I can drop that off when I pick up my other parts. Having a lil tough time as I'm getting over a broken leg with a knee replacement so my energy level is down a little. But I should have it ready for George no later than Friday. How's your project moving along?

    5 Guy-
Same as you, waiting for the body to be done. I guess patience is a virtue that I don't possess. I am anxious and excited to start the chopping process. Once that is done everything else will fall into place. Maybe I'll be picking up as you are dropping off on Friday.
    Hope your health gets better,
    Rick

Thanks Rick, yeah bad Harley vrs Ford Excursion mess, broken shoulder, broken leg, 11 ribs broke and had whats known as compartment syndrome so the Doc sliced my leg open on both sides from knee to ankle on both sides to let the swelling go down, after 2 months the Doc closed it up with 80+ stiches and skin grafts. Sad part about all that is I missed some important races (Baja 500, etc). Maybe run into you Friday?

It's car guys like you that are part of the reason Pete and I are doing this again. The other part is because it's just fun to pretend we are back in 1982 again. We hope you follow the build and enjoy it as much as we are.
    Thanks for the post,
    Rick

Great day today. Picked up the body from the stripper. I am very pleased with how good the body looks without the rust. It's always nice to cut up a body good enough for a restorer. :D
