And speaking of "Toast" remember the old Model A roadster (farm truck conversion) that has now been owned by 5 different members of this message board? He let Cuzzindeke and I pose for a photo in our old car...........we want to buy it back!

I also had a view of the starting line and the smell of burnt rubber and fumes all day.....loved it of course.

The day kept getting hotter and hotter and the humidity was killer! We could not drink enough---but we tried to keep hydrated. I should have taken more photos but it got too hot to want to.

I tried to allow as many folks that wanted to ride my bikes since it was a good way to see the cars, people, and cool off with the breeze.....

Talented hot rod builder and artist---exderelict---(****) who is a real "Turd" came by too cool off and visit. His hand built from scratch "Hoodlum" is as smooth as gl*** but is all steel. Love the car and have never seen anything like it. And it is for sale in the cl***ifieds as we speak....

Hard core drag racer Bobwop was able to relax in the heat and "posed" for this photo....

Perhaps the biggest highlight of the weekend for me was the surprise appearance of one of my old high school best friends Stu West who showed up after reading about my plans to attend this event on Facebook. I had not seen him in 30 years and he looked slim, trim, and appears to be about 40 years old like me ;)..........it was fun to talk to him and we also rode the bikes on a tour of Mo-Kan.....

And his brother in law Mike and his father in law Larry who are also old friends of mine came along with him. I was shocked to see them and tried my best to catch up on old times but it was HARD to do with the drag racing in our ears.....thanks for coming guys! You also look great and really made my day for sure. :)

I grew up in Southwest Missouri and coming to this event is sort of a homecoming to me. Most of my family is deceased and I can't go home again......the drags are my one time a year I even get this close to the old stomping grounds.........

That's about it for my photos, however there were many many other friends who I saw and don't mean to leave them out. Honestly time went by so quick it is all just a blur now............after leaving Mo Kan Speedway we headed for home and arrived around Midnite Saturday night. Thank you to Ryan and his lovely wife Marcy for hosting this event. I had fun to say the LEAST. :D

No pie and no special food worth noting but stay tuned for more Mid West Pie Tour action in the near future!

    Poverty Flats,
Another great story and ride along with you. You always do such a good job of it. It's great that you got to see some of your long lost friends. That always makes the day better. Looking forward to your next adventure.

Me and a few buddies made the trip down Friday night from Springfield after spending all day Friday at the swapmeet and trying to make a buck or three and had a good time. This was our second year of making the trip and we too noticed that the car count even at the host hotel was down a bit. One of these years I'm gonna come back down on Saturday for the drags and if the swapmeet is as slow next year on a Saturday as it was this year, I might just come on down.

  22. Thanks for the report Poverty. The drags are a great event and I missed having my old truck there to race Denise. Damn, it was hot though. Had a great time.
    Later,
    ****

  23. Looks like you had an awesome view.....I mean the cars not the people! Hahaha I NEED to go next year and meet up with some of you guys and watch the races.
