Figured its been a while since any pics of this car have been posted on here. You can read about this fellow HAMB member's car by searching user name 3rd Gen Hot Rodder. His grandpa acquired this car back in the early 50's and I believe it to be a California hot rod well before then.
I've read that SCTA tag over and over my whole life and still can't recite it. Anyway, its from an El Mirage meet, stating the owner as Dick Kraft, and a speed of 120 mph over 1/4 mile I believe. Kind of sounds like they had time to get up to speed and then timed over a 1/4 mile distance once they had time to get up to speed. I may have a picture of it somewhere.
Great survivor with great history. Timing tag is the original S.C.T.A. design, so 1948 and earlier. Here is the thread by 3rd Gen Hot Rodder ----> Dick Kraft / Bronson family 32 roadster undergoes transformation back to 1951
It is easy to spend an hour looking at this car in person. So much history and small items to admire such as the timing tag, etc.. Very cool car, perhaps the oldest and most documented old hot rod in Indiana. I know most of the history on the car back to the man who brought it back to Indiana, but I'll wait for 3rd Gen Hotrodder to come on here and speak.
I wouldn't think his work/family schedule & priorities would allow taking the car to that show, but it would definitely be cool to see it down there. I doubt I'll even be able to make it down there myself.
It is amazing what happens when you search for 32 roadster on the hamb. Thanks to 390Merc for taking the time to post photos and create this thread. Most of the history is documented in the thread listed in Jimmy B's post above... Regarding the timing tag, this is the best photo I have of it... It is dated 10-31-48 More photos here... http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/album.php?albumid=4683 Thanks to all for the above comments. I am truely blessed.
Frank, The funny thing is, we don't let it change either. While the speedo works fine, the odometer has been ready to turn over to 30000 since about 1975
im so jealous.. that is one sweet ride.. in any decade.. you just do not get bored looking at the pictures of this car.. owning it must be a huge treat and make a long day just vanish.. thanks for the pictures. rock on. chris.
