Does anyone have a recommendation for a spring shop in the L.A area?
I want to have the springs rebuild on my 53 Stude p/u.

    Thanks,
    Lee

Yup. If you're going there stop by Chatsworth. I have an A spring that needs spring eyes reversed! I'll buy you lunch or something.

So, I just got a rebuild spring back from Atlas.

Not impressed at all. I wanted a stock spring shortened for a split wishbone. I sent very simple and specific instructions (38 7/8" when compressed center of eye to center of eye). It came back 3" too long! And, at $239, there was no re-arching, rust had not been removed, and there was no lube or liner material between the leaves.

They say, no problem, we will fix it just ship it back to us. Well, shipping is $45. That makes a $300 rebuilt spring. That is a whole lot more than a Posies superslide with rounded ends.

  9. I'm going to have my leafs for my 54 victoria rebuilt and de-arched. I called Deaver and they quoted my $175. Atlas quoted me $50. Does that sound right? I want a quality job done, but I'd hate to overpay by $125! Maybe he meant $50 each? But he didn't say that.

  10. just an update, atlas did my springs for $100 total with a 3" dearch and a repaint. I had my own bushings that I pressed in at home. Been diving it for a few months and it feels great.
