Texas dudes, is this meet worth going to? Never been to it but its advertised pretty heavy. Takes place last weekend in August. COOGER
I'm going to treat it like an excuse to have breakfast at the Chapel Hill Cafe and something to do for fun. It's about a two hour drive and I hope to score some parts for my '40 Chevy project.
I think this is the first year for the swap meet in Giddings? Fireman's Park is a nice place with shaded areas and good facilities. It should be a decent swap meet but with the heat I'm doubting it will be very big. I might set up over there for a few hours and try to unload some stuff, but not sure yet.
Damn... I used to live in Brenham. There was never anything cool going on around there. That was 15 years ago though.
sure hoping for a good turnout. gonna start loading tonite as soon as I get home. Please come out and help make this a good meet.
bump for the swap meet. y'all try to come out. Lets try to help make this an annual event that we look forward to each year.
I'll be there Saturday with my '56 F-100 and the Texas Timing****ociation booth. Might bring some parts to hock, but doubt I'll have the energy to load it all up. Stop by and say hi.

I made the swap meet....for early Friday it was decent.....I feel that this swap meet will grow in the future....excellent location, and the first swap of the fall season...I found a couple good buys.....might go back tomorrow
Just got back, bought some Stewart Warner gauges, missed out on a great deal on some Radir slicks. Good mix of stuff. Heading back in the morning for round 2. Marcy
well, just finished getting ready for day 2. today was fair for setup day.looking forward to the rest of the weekend. If you come out stop by and say hi. I am in the front under some nice shade trees. Easy to find, cuze I SELL STUFF. look for the sign......Ron
Well I must say the Guy that puts it on is trying he has ads for it on the East Texas and the Dallas Craigs list.
I missed the slicks by 1 minute.....one of the great things about swapmeets...never know what you will find....missed seeing you....I'm not going to be able to make it today as I bought a new 4 post lift and I have 4 strong kids coming over to put the long ramps in place......
Just got home. Was a nice drive out there this morning, almost chilly (WTF?) Then it got hot. Was a good swap meet. A little to spread out so I didn't even bother walking to the booths that were on the other side of the field. Not bad for a first time swap meet though, I even sold a few things and saw some good deals, hopefully it will grow into something bigger in the future. The guys that put it on were nice and I hope they make it a swap meet to look forward to. For those of you who sell or buy at swap meets, we're having a swap meet at the TTA-TSC Nostalgia Drag Race on October 23rd at San Antonio Raceway. See website link in my signature for more info on the event or contact "ChevyRat" or myself if you have any questions.
Brokenspoke, I bought those slicks, they're kool but they were on 5 x 5.5 which I also needed. I hope the meet turns into a great yearly event. I'll pm you.
Hot as hades but I enjoyed it last year, going to go this year too. My big purchase was a 20' extension ladder!!
I think it was me you bought the ladder from, I had a couple of them and i was near the camping area. I will be there in the same spot again this year. SEE YOU THERE
