I'm really missing C9's contributions to a thread like this... :(

It's about the kind of cars that used to cruise, and race in the Visalia area in the "old days"

  3. I like this Olds. It's got some very cool and rare speed stuff on that 303 Rocket engine.

Here's a quick sketch I did of it prior to ever seeing it:

Also... Found a couple locals that fit in here. Wish I had taken the picture of the Ford but, what'cha gonna do, eh?!!

Love this Chevy. The owner is very active in keeping the traditional hot rod community going in the Omaha area...

This one is probably to much of a gasser to count, sorry...

Billys Ford is a pure Kustom. Thanks for posting the picture. I haven't seen that car around for awhile now.

Maybe, but it sure hits my hot rod buttons.

Man, that teal '53 with the BIG truck radials in the back is really cool, 49oldscoupe. Really cool.

That icy blue Olds is perfection 49ratfink.

Thanks Jigger (could lose the skirts though), keep 'em coming!

Sorry if you took it that way, certainly didn't mean anything disparaging. As for the Grease comment? Yeah, the car in question looks like something that might be in a movie....like Grease. And yeah, I still think the characters in the movie seemed more east coast 50's than west coast 50's, maybe I'm wrong. As far as what's going on these days? The whole East vs. West thing is pretty much over. Back then, there were definite style differences.

I'm with ya ... in the midwest town where I grew up, the little mags of the late 50's gave us our awareness of what was happening in the car world. According to these mags, east coast cars looked different than west coast cars. The guys I hung with identified with west coast looks: no skirts, dago-ed stance, certainly no continental kits .... and if you dragged getting out of the driveway, it was the front end that was dragging.

OOOOOOOHHH! Did you see that Plymouth 3 window? ARGH... Note to self: stop liking Chryslers. Could live without the Viper engine though... Twin turbo 360. HHHMMNN...

I was going to complain, but thought we could let this particular pic through....just for the sake of form.
