you are my wake up call lol. once i get a title i am gonna put some of your ideas to use for sure great build your metal work is amazing for being low tech i would love to know what your using and maybe some pics. i need a welder too lol. wish i knew how to photoshop cause i would do a chop on mine. i have a thread started no progress besides getting it running maybe you guys could give me some tips.
Thanks 48 . Ask anything you want to know . I would be more than willing to help out in any way . Tips are always a good thing when you are about to start a project of your own . Later , Andy... PS your car looks like a solid piece to start with . What do you envision ?
Well once I secure the title, ill start with shaving all the lower trim on the car, decked but not nosed. other than that basically stock mechanically and drive it. Once i find someone to teach me how to make aluminum molds and pour correctly i would like to make my own intake system to mount weber or carter su carbs. Make my own true dual header. My ultimate goal for the car was to make it into a two door coupe cause they didn't make one in 48 still trying to figure out what door would work best , fastback would make a post style car but convertible could make a hardtop still in the planning and trying to save up stage but my daily driver just puked so thats a setback
How about looking for a 'compound' dual intake? Buick had dual carbs in 1941, I thimk. Also, weld up one with steel tubing, sized to fit. A header also. I think a Buick straight 8 is a great engine. If I remember correctly they made a 320 CI. for the Roadmaster.
Here ya go Andy. Its about a 4 inch chop, catwalk extended, took some of the hump out of the roof from about the middle of the roof to the back window and sectioned about 3 inches. Couldnt resist putting a front clip on it, lowering it and adding the wide whites and caddy caps.
Well it was well worth the wait Doug . The car may be set back a few extra months but a section is not out of the realms of possibilities . The car is the bomb the way you worked it out .Thanks for your time Doug. I wonder what opinions others have . Let me know what you guys think . Is this the way to go ? You all are gonna yes right ??? LOL !!!
All good! I am 100% for the chop and extended catwalk. However the section???? I dont know. It can really look good or it can really ruin a car. In my opinion. AND, its a lot of work, but from seeing the work you have already done, I am confident you could handle it. My vote is chop it and slam it.
Man that's a lot of rust repair before the customization even starts. Good on you for saving another one.
Andy, I think the car is so long that the section makes it look even longer. Doesnt look bad but here it is with no section. I like this version best myself.
R and D I think you guys are right . Without the section it somehow looks stouter and more appealing .The direction has been set . Now that I see it before i actually do it it just makes sence . Thanks for the P shop Doug. If you were closer I'd buy you a beer or two . Andy
oh man!!!! that photoshop is soo on the money! and i demand it to be biult following this formula!!!!!!!!!! keep going man, you will be in sledsville for next summer...
I am sure that Buickkid will appreciate the effort you did on his car . I own the 51 that this thread is about . Another fellow hamber P shopped it for me . Nice work from Doug ( Racerdad ) Gave me some more definitive direction in my build . If you want to add color to mine. I am sure Doug wouldn't mind . Thanks . Andy
"If you want to play with mine ( Add color ) I am sure Doug wouldn't mind" . You might want to edit that last sentence and add the words "my photo". I thought I was on the wrong forum there for a second! hahahaha!
Yeah, I lmao as you pointed this out . My wife as well. Maybe I should rephrase that . Andy. PS hows that now . Works for me LOL!
Andy, we all know James D is the photoshop master and if he wants to color it then I cant wait to see it! His photoshop work rules!

You are more than welcome Smokey . Keep me in mind from time to time as things will heat up in the fall on this project.
Thanks James D and the rear window thing is still in the air . I heard that the 3 piece window of the Buick will only lay 3 inches Max. So we'll see .
Ton of work to say the least but I have to have something to do so I might as well rebuild something . Kinda like the saying tryin to make a silk purse out of a pigs ear . Keep comin back from time to time . Andy..
