This looks like it was a 58 Plymouth. Engine still has air cleaner on top inner fender still has battery in place, but pretty much everything else looks like it went through a shredder.

Stan and his father before him parted out so many great and extremely rare cars while saving others that were hardly worthwhile for some reason.

But the plus for is getting all of these one of a kind parts that nobody else wants and using them on my projects.

I might just ask Stan next time I am down there if he knows what the bumper is from, then I can cross reference my own archives and online to be 100% sure.

You are correct! That is what is left of a 1958 Plymouth 2 door hardtop. You can tell by the door that it was not a sedan but the roof appears to be skinned away if you follow the windshield pillars up from the cowl.
Can not tell by the Black and white what the color is but if this is Christine's twin sister, she ain't coming back to life!

The photo is from Utah in 1961 and damn that had to be a hell of an impact.

  7. I know that I tend to go on about this kind of stuff, but YIKES! Did you really intend to post this image at full size? It's like 14.7 megapixel! It's 4320 pixels wide and my monitor only displays 1440 pixels across. And I feel sorry for anyone with a slower internet connection waiting for this 1650 KB picture to open. :(

Hope you don't mind my reposting it at a more sensible size, and it's under 100 KB now so it will load a lot quicker. But like I said, I do go on about this stuff sometimes.

And by the way, that's some nice pinups and glamour shots you posted. Vargas has got nothing on Gil Elvgren as far as I can see! :D

The Holmes Motel in Morro Bay. "Morro Bay's leading motel"

In the late '40s my dad, his brother and a couple of friends rode their new Harley 125s from San Jose to Morro Bay via Highway 99 and Shafter. That's Dad in the back. One bike was a larger twin of some sort.

The little information I have about their ride is posted on my blog.

After I posted that info last year I had a phone conversation with my Uncle John (passed away late last year) who took the picture above. He gave me a bit more info on the ride and I pieced together that they have covered over 500 miles on their 3 hp Harleys. He said the twin cyl. bike was "European" and "about 160cc."

Talking about Dad & Uncle John's trip with my mom (90 years old this past June) she casually mentioned that she and Dad had once ridden Dad's little motorcycle down to Morro Bay from San Jose, just the two of them. About 400 miles round trip.

    Huh?!

Yup, two-up on the bigger 185cc H-D (Dad had an H-D and Indian franchise for a short time - not sure why he didn't ride something bigger but he always like to be different). I knew Dad was tough, but Mom?

I inquired further and Mom mentioned that on the steep hills at the upper end of the route, she rode the underpowered bike to the top while Dad hitched a ride with a passing truck. "When did Dad teach you to ride a motorcycle, Mom?" "Oh, he didn't, it didn't seem that difficult so I just got on and road it up the steep hills." I knew she baked killer sugar cookies but I didn't know she had that kind of moxie. But then she raised four sons so I guess she had to be tough.

Yes, when posted I did not realize how big that one was.
I apologize, and thanks for the re-post.
