I was born in '82 and I wore a Miami Mice shirt shortly after.....rad shirt for sure.
My favorite movie was Gleaming the Cube but that came out in '89
I was later heavily influence by a lot of punk rock and ******** bands like Gorilla Biscuits, Agnostic Front that would only be around because of Suicidal Tendencies and the likes.
I rode a Powell Peralta "Hawk Claw" deck with pink slimballs and clear griptape.
I had parachute pants with zippers on the thighs.
I remember the first time I seen "Welcome to the Jungle" on Mtv

With all that good stuff that had a huge impact on who I am I can still honestly say......The 80's ****ed. Terd stop your "UNCLE RICO-I bet I could have thrown a ball over that mountain" tirade and get back to it!!!

Matt Wilder as well as Tubbs and Crockette were **** backs. :D

Yeah, sure. I'm just gonna put that distro in my curio cabinet with all my gl*** figurines and snow babies. I can turn the missing clip towards the back.

hey you terd how about posting some pictures of that truck of yours. What kind of progress are you making?

I think you need to get a tailgate that is just flat without raised lettering and just have someone air brush "liberace" in cursive on the back

  17. Enough of this **** about the 80's. By the 80's I was in my 40's. I have underwear older than most of you guys and as a matter of fact I think I have a pair of them on now. I know TMI. Get to work on the truck. I want to hear it run.
    Later,

I'm waiting on parts to come. The throttle linkage I had to order to replace the one I broke came this afternoon. The throttle and kickdown cables should be here tomorrow.

In the meantime I put my seat back in, installed the shifter and trans cover, drilled holes for mounting the coil and brake light switch, mounted the coil, got the distributor in and swapped out the ugly allen head valve cover screws for stainless machine slotted screws. I figured out I'll need a longer shifter cable. The one that came with the shifter is too short.

I'm pretty much dead in the water til the cables come. I ordered them last Thursday, should be here tomorrow. After that, the front clip goes back on, fluids get filled up, timing gets set and engine gets fired up.

And for the record, I'm pretty disappointed with having to resort to using cables for the throttle and kickdown. I really wanted to use hard linkage for those, but my brain just couldn't wrap around how to get them to work together. I spoke to the old timer hydramatic spe******t down the road and he told me hard linkage would never work right with aftermarket tri-power, lol. So I'm going with a street rod looking double cable set up from Lokar. Its not going to look quite right for my tastes, but hopefully it'll be easier to work with and set up properly.

I think that Lokar stuff is going to work out great and you'll learn to love it because it works. We can think about how to dress it up if it's sticking out like a sore thumb. Burnouts in "Purple Reign" leaving the shop are cooler then driving Del's loaner truck right?

Hell, I watched Miami Vice growing up, I even had one of those jackets with the 3/4 length sleeves. I didn't wear the deck shoes with no socks though.

My favorite show from the 80's had to have been McGyver. Sonofa***** could build a cold fusion unit with a ballpoint pen, a box of Chicklets, some duct tape and that Swiss Army knife of his. That's the kind of dude you need to fix that TV rod on your truck Terd!

The Iron Lords are such sweathearts, they even leave each other little love notes on parts.

I never liked McGuyver because he didn't use guns, lol.

At least I know you care. :D

    Me neither! Thanks ****!!

Haha! Jeremy was mad at me. He was building me some linkage and I bought some linkage. Turns out neither one would work on it's own due to clearance issues with the fuel lines when the linkage moves. So we're going to combine the store bought with the home made.

Everything is a compromise. I've already got twice the power of the old stovebolt. And just as much idle quality and drive-ability. I'm sure I'll be plenty happy.
