Hey, everybody! I am so excited that our first car show is coming together! I’m hoping for a great turnout on Sept. 17th, to honor my dad, and the people whose lives he touched!

It is being held at the famous Val Air Ballroom, where the great have played for 75 years! We are having a 50’s day, with the Rock ’n Roll Revival in the evening.

Registration is $25, and that includes 2 tickets to the Rock ’n Roll Revival ($20 value!). If you pre-register by Sept. 5th, a free event T Shirt is included.

Prizes to the top 25 cars, and top 10 bikes, plus 6 Special Awards! My brother is coming from Salt Lake City to help with the Felsen Family Pick!

Hope you live close enough to come!! Looking forward to a fun day, with food, a trivia contest on Felsen and his books, a 50/50 drawing, prizes, and 99¢ root beer floats!!

We are also highlighting the movie, “Fever Heat”, which was filmed near Dexter and Stuart, Iowa.

We plan on a few surprises, too!

Registration is 9-12. Awards at 3. Gives you time to rest up before the dance...doors at 6.

All proceeds will be used to support scholarships at DMACC for their automotive program, and for the Drake University journalism department. Come out and support us!

    Registration forms available at http://www.henrygregorfelsentribute.org/Henry_Gregor_Felsen_Tribute/Registration_Form.html

    Sounds like a great time!
I grew up reading his books, and can't help but think those books helped shape my passion for cars.

I will bring one of the roadsters, rain or shine. Looks like no rain for at least our part of the day. I'm leaving the swap meet mid-morning so I can get there before registration is over at noon.

Lotsa people talking like they will be there, so should be a fun day !

Just found out about all this. I talked with Felsen's daughter, I think, at the Rod & Custom GoodGuys in Des Moines this year. I remember HotRod, and that the 39 Custom was painted the boy's girlfriends finger nail polish color. Yes, pink. Think that I was at Logan Jr. High when I read that book. I don't remember if I red any other of his books or not.

If they, you make this an annual event, I will make certain to make it next year. O Nelly, our six year project, 38 Ford Standard sedan, baby hemi power, will be there. I, often refer to her as my 1961 hotrod, as that has always been the theme. About the only thing not 1961 is the A/C and Mustang type front suspnsion, and maybe the power windows. The rest, 1961.

Someone let me know if the show will be a go in 2012, see you all there.

    Bill in Iowa
