    Thanks Frenchy!

Thanks Bob! "Full hood" may be open to interpretation... I think even if I DID there would be so many holes for things to stick out of that it would be worthless! HAHA! HOWEVER... I am going to attempt to do something to at least have something for longer trips. I really want something to throw on, in the right circumstances, that would cover the fuel lines, carb linkages, as well as down around the fuel regulator/filter, etc. But I'm in no rush for that stuff. Maybe one day.

wood470, this is one of the "TOP 10 HAMB Builds" IMO, if another Looks GREAT Scooter! post helps motivate him I'll post one. If I had the funds I'd fly to LA to see the Mayden Voyage. Bob

    Wood,
I appreciate that your an old car guy and yes this is a site about old cars but lets not forget it's still basically a chat forum where fellas can get together and chat about their old cars while passing on priceless information about progress and technique. If we didn't have the first then I am not sure where the HAMB would be at this point.

If that means that a bunch of Scott's friends, and a WHOLE lot of people who don't even know Scott from Adam can banter in and tell him what a fantastic job he is doing than let it be.

Like all of us Scott has a million things in his life pulling his attention away from his build and if we can help li'l Scooter out with a few words of encouragement then all the better for everyone.

I for one don't mind bypassing the comments I don't need to get to the content I want. Like what kind of socks he has on for the day.
He's got the legs for Argyles and knows how to flaunt them.

Wow... Just seeing this. I guess I'll have to bump my own thread up with a big thank you to the comments above. Especially to Nate for his way of breaking it down.

I DO have a lot going on and the thing that you people don't see is that I fight this thing every day. It's been a HUGE challenge MENTALLY to keep going and not just say "SCREW IT" and dump it to build something "normal" like a coupe, or a roadster. But I realize the value in this build AND to sticking to my original plan for the car, which is noted on the first page of this "summary" thread. This build has effected my personal life, social life, and especially my WALLET. It's been in several different garages and seen more of my life than my wife has. (If this rust bucket could talk...) So the fight to keep going is a challenge. I have to remind myself EVERY DAY that it's all worth it in the end. I've learned a TON and boy oh boy have I met some AMAZING people in the process. Some people I consider "family" now.

If it weren't for all of the comments and input I've received from the great people of the HAMB, I would not have the mental capacity to continue with this heap of trouble and frustration. So there's more to it then just updates. I have had to learn how to balance my life around my devotion to this thing as well as mentally prepare myself to go into the shop on the weekends and skip time with my friends, family, wife, and miss all the great things happening in southern California.

So I guess I should make this bump to my thread with a huge THANK YOU to ALL of you that follow my bizarre build. Some days I can't believe I decided to build a friggin' shortened sedan... What the hell was I thinking. I keep hoping that I'll see a picture of a shortened sedan like this in a pre-war or even post war setting to validate it's existence as a "traditional hot rod" build. Still haven't seen one. HAHA!

Thanks everyone! Your input means more than you'll ever know! I've survived this build BECAUSE of you.

  11. 5 Years! You a flying on this build compared to mine:D. Guys that make comments like wood just don't get what this group of guys on this board are all about.

Look forward to your updates all the time Scott. So there better be a new one soon!!!

your build has been one of the few Ive watched from the very begining, its been very inspirational to watch what you started with and how your skills have developed during the build, it gives alot of folks the inspiration and motivation to try this stuff ourselves. This build and Ian Berkys 51 chev have been 2 of the most motivating builds on this site...so thank you

I REALLY like this car. Perfect proportions and great lines. Don't feel bad about the sparks on the tach lens, I did that once on the side windows of a totalled Mustang GT I built for myself a few years ago. It's a learning curve thing...

Sometimes old people cranky and don t really mean what they say. I agree that this is an excellant build and am amazed at the work that goes into both the car and the thread. Please accept my apology and keep up the good work. Beautiful work Scooter!

Okay, so I have a little update to share. I started the finishing work on the push bar, tank rack, fuel tank, headlights, grille shell, and dash rail. All pieces are now in primer and some are sealed. Still more work to do on even the parts that got sealed. Will probably have to shoot them again. Long weekend coming up, so I can probably get them sealed and into color.

    Before final prep...

And a few parts on to sealer. Have a few pieces that have runs, so they'll have to be sanded out and sealed again. Then on to COLOR! YEAH!

    Looking good Scootie-Tang!!!

What's more impressive then the primer on these parts, is seeing the parts individually and how complex and well made they are. That gas tank mount and push bar looks like Medieval Torture devises but when they are on the car they blend in with the rest. So happy for ya!

    Thanks guys!

Body and doors have not progressed because I've been working on this stuff, but as soon as there is color on these parts I'll be going full-bore on the body! Need to order some more materials, but otherwise I think I have everything else I need. Just wish I had more time in the day to carry out my plans... but at least I HAVE a plan, right!?:D:eek:

    Thanks man!

Parts are sanded, runs are cut and knocked down, going to do primer touch-ups tomorrow, then paint Sunday or Monday! WOOHOO!!!

Then on to getting this body wrapped up...

OH! And I think we just scored a Juki Industrial straight stitch sewing machine as well as a serger (sp?) to do the seat cushions. My wife volunteered to do the seat cushions if we have the machine. Was going to cost me the same to pay someone else and not walk away with a machine that we will use, so WHY NOT!? Right? :D

I have an update and a sneaky peaky for you guys...

...Paint is down on the headlights, dash rail, grille shell, fuel tank, fuel tank support structure, and the push bar.

Another great milestone! There will be some cutting and polishing in the end, since I have a couple droops and some orange peel. but overall, I'm happy. And the color looks awesome!

Next I'll be getting back on the body fab work...

Thanks everyone! Man, I am BEAT! Was a three day affair. Priming one day, sanding the next, then a whole 'nother day of color.

I have to say that painting is not high on my "love to do" list. It's not the work that makes me dislike it, it's all the being careful not to touch or scratch something during the process. It's like walking on egg shells. Painting the black stuff is the HARDEST!!! LONG flash times (not good for an impatient person!), and because it's such nasty stuff I HAVE to wear a supplied respirator which means fighting with the fresh-air supply hose AND the air hose for the gun! NIGHTMARE!

Still lots more work to do on the parts, but at least I won't be chasing rust, anymore. Now I get to learn to cut and polish out the couple droops I have... UHG!

Really looking forward to getting back to metal work on the body. I enjoy that stuff so much better.
