Pay no attention to the cruder elements in our little discussion. :)

Kind of like your picture. I'll make a sheet metal brass or nickel stern? piece held on with nifty rivets.

    Glazing Putty

I bought some glazing putty that uses hardener but it sanded real crappy so I went back to the old spot putty that I've had for years and used on a hundred cars. I also bought some grey primer to get a little contrast. So as you can tell this bodywork stuff is real slow for an amateur. Still waiting for my new camera too. How's everyone else's projects coming?

    Jerry,

When does the new camera get in?

Spent an entire summer once priming and sanding, averaged three coats a day, that was before I used much Bondo.

    Found this thread,
Looking for the correct color for your ride?
    woodbox
It has this link http://www.autocolorlibrary.com/ . If you're still undecided about paint combos, it has factory schemes dating back to the 20s. Sorry can't get the thread to link.

    Jerry,

    Monday is a holiday, remember?

I know about the prices, I just meant you could look at what colors the factory guys were using together back in the 20s, and what colors were available; should have figured you would have seen it, you seem to know everything.

Just like to give back, I've already stolen, I mean learned, a lot of ideas from your build.

    More sanding

Well I took some pictures of the wheels with my wife's camera but she had it set for max resolution and the pictures were huge. I resized them but I didn't realise until the last one that I was destroying 99% of the picture. No matter, there wasn't much to see. The last one is interesting. It's of a Honda I parked next to at the grocery store. The guy was very inventive when it came to fixing his broken window regulator. I think he deserves a government job. Better pics tomorrow.

  11. does this mean you could install at least two windows in your speedster with this setup...

personally i would use the flip flop on the inside for ease of drive up use...tied to the door handle

ever wonder why so many shoes are out on the freeway....

great picture from your new camera go man go

    Wheels

The other day I smeared some bondo around the offending welds on my wheels and started sanding. It was looking pretty rough. I needed a way to apply the bondo a little more evenly so I whipped up a jiffy bondo template. Worked pretty good. Today I sanded then resprayed the body and wheels with some grey urethane primer. Will the bodywork never end?

Jerry, do you use Bondo brand body filler? If not, what do you use? I'm going to buy me some stocks
Kidding aside, the body looks great in a coat of grey. All that time playing with your long board paid off

"Will the bodywork never end?" What! At some point this project is going to end? What am I going to do for entertainment? Who said you could "end this project"... what if Coke decided to end the production of Coke? People would still be thirsty! About the only sense of accomplishment I have now days is watching Jerry work. I don't think Jerry should be allowed to "end" this project... I am so upset I going to write my worthless Congressman about this...

The body work is looking nice.

My father would say the project will end when you sell it. Then it becomes another persons project.

Don't worry, there's the whole Seagrave Speedster round the country and world trip to come. Get my bed ready, I'm staying at all ya'll's houses. For the unSouthern, all ya'll's is a Southernism which means all of younzez or all of yooz guys.

    That's it.

I've had enough filling and sanding and blocking. One more coat of primer and I'm moving on to something else. Unfortunately the something else will be more body work. But at least the bad part is over!

I got a spot in the garage saved for you. When you get here, can we drive by my Rustang buddy's house and scare the crap out of him?

  21. Yeah, I unnerstood "all ya'll's" OK. That's kinda like "widja didja", ain't it? You know, like when you come up an' ring my doorbell and I open the door and sez somethin' like, "Ya didn't bring the Speedster widja, didja?" ;)

    Bodywork

That's it! I moving on. The body is going on the sawhorses and I'm starting on the aprons and doors and cowl and hood. Thank goodness those pieces need only the barest bodywork--I hope. My new camera arrived today. People will think I paid thousands for it but it was only $128. These pics are from my wife's camera. The next ones you see will be from the GE X500.

    Jerry,

Those wheels look great. How are you planning on painting them?

Does the new camera take movies?

    New camera

Well I sanded and filled on the wheels some more. They had a lot of pits. If I get them done and painted red I can assemble the chassis. I hope I've got the camera resolution set right. We'll see

  29. I've seen a few of those GE cameras in the stores and wondered if they were worth a pinch or not. Looks like it's doing a pretty good job for you so far. :D

As far as the resolution goes, they're more than big enough for web viewing. Actually something around 800 x 600 is usually big enough for a forum post. It looks like you're shooting them at 2047 x 1535, or at least that's the size you're uploading. If you're shooting something to make a print of you need the larger size (higher resolution) but the web isn't nearly so demanding.

Also, did you format the memory card in this new camera and set the date and time??? I know... NAG NAG NAG!!! But sometimes I just can't help myself.
