This is a 39-40 cab as shown that the firewall does not have the 1 1/2 inch extension. I agree, the front clip is a 46.

Howeird, The 40 thru 46 used the same dash and gauge panel. The two verticle stiffening ribs on the firewall make it a 40. 41-46 had an X pattern in the firewall to stiffen it.

  6. Yup, cab is pre-41. The 41-46 cabs have the "X" on each side of the firewall. Dash appears to be 40-46, so that makes the cab a 40!

    Nice save!

This why I love the HAMB, thanks to all who helped ID this bugger.

So will the '46 clip fit this '40 cab? Have not tried to mate them up yet.

Should fit, but the proof is in the pudding as they say,,
you can always weld in some(5/16ths) nuts on the inside of the cab metal to make your own holes for mounting the fenders, not sure about the inside splash aprons, shouldnt be a big deal there, but, placement of the fenders on the cab is important since it sets the stage for all other sheet metal. Once you attach the front fenders, that determines where your running boards will go, and the running board placement determines where the rear fenders go, and your bed hight, kinda like the thigh bone is connected to the hip bone,, etc etc, keep us posted, sounds like fun.

I have heard it both ways, that it fits and that it doesnt fit. Dont know for sure but I am willing to go out and get some actual measurements from my 41 to help out.

ditto, although mine is not on a 41 frame, the measurements for the body to fender mounting holes should be the important factor, and so my creative side says no problem, hell yeah it can be done, but what hurdles will come down the pike,, nobody knows,,

  14. LWK, get that Jimmy outa here! The thread is clearly titled "Chevy"! :D

All joking aside, that COE is schweeeet! What are your plans?

  15. You're Welcome. I know you are going to have a great time. I'm happy to have inspired you to use an Isuzu frame. Too bad you live so far away, I have and extra, Isuzu Rodeo frame out back with 4 wheel disc brakes, and I have a gal that wants me to drag a free Trooper home from her place.
Keep me posted, and let me know how I can help you. I believe I've posted a bunch of pictures on how to do it.
Currently working on my 46 Chevy Pickup sitting on a 96 Honda Passport chassis, (same as a Rodeo chassis). Just got it up and running a couple of weeks ago. Now I have to wire it up and finish the floorboards.
I see your dash unit is broken, I have and extra one. I'm looking for a couple of "grille extentions". These pieces are the ones just in back of the top part of the grille and between the hood side panels.
    Have fun and enjoy.

Hay Crusty maybe we could get a HAMB relay going on the frame? How far from Tacoma are you? I have family near there and maybe I could swing a road trip.

    PM me

latest update on my hot rod truck,

had to go back and do some more work and found this color very appealing,
i think the truck would look cool with some of it this color of turquoise or aquamarine blue
    [IMG]

BTW, i need some headlight hardware, the adjustment screws and springs,
anyone know where to get these new? otherwise its off to the pnp

  23. does the drivers door look like it has been changed? '39 doors had the mirror on the hinge, '40 had the mirrors mounted into the top of the door through large holes. '39 dash is different than yours, much flatter with round gauges. maybe this was a early '40 using up '39 doors?

I give guys. I have had mirrored stainless cut to fit over the firewall for about 15 years so I forgot about the cross relief to strengthen. My bad.

  25. :D JOHN, those headlight adjusting screws and springs should be at your place by Friday, on U.P.S. I've sent you everything that I had from 4 headlight buckets. Have fun and post pictures of your truck with headlights in it. Gary

progress rpt, another day in the shop... radiator and steering fab.
Being retired is fun, what follows is a little of what has to be done while mounting a 41 chevy truck body on a s 10 frame.
Gary, your extensions have been uprooted, torn from their homes where they have probably sat for the last ummm 65 yrs or so,, and they're boxed up, give you tracking # tomorrow,

Well...the chassis is definitely a 1946 Chevy Art Deco 1.5T truck. It's just hiding in a Wayne school bus body!
