looks like fun. North Bay is like a whole different world than down here in the East Bay.

Very Cool to see Mike Gamel's "Rare32" on the run. His car and our "C Deuced"64c roadster once were one car. He retained the body, eng, trans and Duvall and we ended up with the complete lower part (Rolling Chassis) of a car originally built by Butch Carlton back in the 60's-70's,while Mike and his dad modified it further in the 80's to make it a driver and got a feature in St Rodder back in Nov 92.

Don't mean to Hi-Jack this thread, but this story should be read.(wow, that rhymes!)

I recently visited Mike and family=Super Kool! and got the low down on when and why he took the tub apart.

Seems like 5 yrs ago he was looking to tighten this unique tub up. He swapped out the chassis with one welded up by Upland Ca. fabricator Todd Walton (Original SO-Cal Spd Shop production chassis builder) When stopping @ his Dad's Saugus home, a neighbor who's a HAMBer,also named Mike made an offer on the chassis that was originally under the tub for a future project.

A business op came up that HAMBer Mike and wife Re'ne couldn't pass up so an ad was placed here in the classifieds and nearly 4yrs ago we bought an original 32 chassis that had been done a way long time ago, considering the craftsmanship and parts sourced for its build.

The plan that I had for this chassis was to put it under our 1929 roadster once owned by Clem Waske and Ran 109mph on May 25th 1947 at the El Mirage May Meet. Meeting Mike G's dad changed that idea, we couldn't hack this deuce up any further after seeing the SRM feature on his garage wall,so we were gonna build a perhaps a 30-31 Roadster, but driving around in a friends convinced me that it needed to be a 32 again, we thought tub @ 1st,but opted for a companion car to our Cyclone 64b flathead roadster,(Hence 64c). This one was already set up for a small block,so we put in a 1958 283ci engine that saw service in our 34 Roadster up to 15yrs back.
Used a steel body with many replacement panels and original parts when possible-available and affordable ;). Below is C'Deuced (Pat) in the C'Deuced 64c.

Worked on getting to Napa from SO-CAL trying to make the run, Wasn't sure if I should chance it with a cracked flex plate,so I opted out @ the latest possible moment. I so regret not going now. Looks like it was a great ride!
Thank you to "Pop" Gamel, Mike G, and Mike and Re'ne for being able to get this bottom 1/2 of a "Rare 32" continue it's mechanical life.

Man that ride was a blast. Good running as co-pilot with ya Ed, I could tell some of the curvy spots were a bit of work! Fish tails and wheel squeals man!

All the cars there were great, and even the people.

Can't wait for the next one.

  19. Thanks for the pics! What a killer bunch of tin.

Thanks for all the great pics.

And thanks to everyone who came on the run. Especially the ones who made it to the end.

I appreciate everyone's patience with the first ferry being broken, and the second ferry taking so long.

We ended up taking the guy who came from Japan(Hiroki) back to SF in the roadster, so we did not get back until really late last night. But it was cool for him to drive across the bay and into SF in a hot rod.

Some day soon we will up load the photos and pics.

Glad you guys came along for the ride.

    Cheers

Here are more photos from the run. I took them all with my iphone, so sorry if the quality is low. Thanks again to Dave (and Marissa) for yet another rad run and Jim for navigating -- I am sure I probably scared him once or twice.

Belongs to DRD57 on here, and as perfect as it looks on film it is way better in person.

  27. Dave,

Words or photos can't begin to express the feeling of being on this run.Hanging out with like minded people and shooting the shit at pit stops over food and beers is what it's all about..The cars, backroads and scenery are just a bonus..Bottom line is that these things we put so much work, time and money into are meant to be driven and driven HARD! If you don't get out there and enjoy them, you are doing the car and yourself a huge dis-service....

Thank You to Dave and the rest of the Lucky Bastards,as well as all the other people who took the time to get out there...Until next year..Ed
