The caption says it was taken in Francis, Oklahoma. Check out the cool stop sign. I can remember a few of these around rural Oklahoma, but I don't think I've seen any for a long time.

 

We're always commenting about this is somebody's Grandmother. Well, this is a recent picture of her. I don't know her, I just know she's are from Oklahoma.

 

She's held up quite well. And I mean that in a respectful way.

 

Photo speaks of boy girl and a fun drive. Thats no regular smile either, that there is romance at it's finest I would say.

 

It looks like the builder did not take in consideration the storm water run off when building these homes,probably would be sued today.

 

She reminds me of my wife with the same bashful smile and turn of the head.

This is my future wife in 1969 at Bunch, Oklahoma. (If I never return to the forum, you'll know she has banished me from the computer forever).

In post 30717, I spotted a De soto automobile in a very familiar place , that being Capital Garage , then Coleman Scales Richfield in 1957 in Richmond Virginia . I wrote Roadkill explaining a little history of the place . The garage opened at the corner of Ryland st and West Broad St as a Ford Tractor dealer in 1921. It soon became a Ford Truck dealer . In the thirties , Coleman Scales . They sold Richfield gasoline until Little oil, a Phillips 66 wholesaler put in Phillips products in I think 1965.

The first floor was more or less open so as to be able to pull cars through. The De Soto was along side of a Giant elevator , the largest one in Richmond Virginia to date too.

The second floor was a Body and Fender shop . painting was on the third and total wrecks were generally stored on the roof .

Lots of these photos bring back fond memories but it is nice to see some have a real personal connection. Sure glad you enjoyed them and you shared your story with us.

 

Very cool, fascinating they way they operated, I would love to be able to see photos of the roof and other parts of the inside, sounds like a cool place.

 

About time the ladies learn about cars! Mom's collection late, 1920s?
