History Dads model collection from the early 60's

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Roadsir, Sep 10, 2011.

  1. My Dad wasn't a model builder. My Mom was. Here are 3 she built back in the late 50s.
These were the old Gowland & Gowland kits. Yes, I still have these and no, I'm not going to rebuild them.
She built a lot of sailing ships too. I think she still has all the ships stashed away somewhere.

That's funny. I wrecked some of my uncles models, and lot of mine burned in terrible crashes that involved lighter fluid and firecrackers:D

Man, so did I!!!! I remember busting my ass at our strip and getting another $1 a week plus for feeding our 30 beagles. Every week, I asked my Mom to take me to the local Woolworth's in Alexandria, IN where they had a KICKASS AMT selection. GREAT memories...and thanks to my fireworks, I have ZIPPO from my model purchases!!!! What a dumbass!!!!

Wish we could get more kids involved in this hobby instead of having them play video games all the time... I'd love to see this hobby make a huge comeback... Problem is, these kits are now made overseas... Like everything else....
