hey guys maybe one of you can help me out. bought a pair of NOS Dietz no 19 6 volt special lights off ebay a couple of years ago. had planned on using on my coupe but then some health issues popped up and after treatment decided they were really too small and went another route. these are for honest NOS still in original boxes. i assume due to their size and "special" they were intended for tractors or ??? any ideas? they are for sale i have $150 in the pair. thanx. larry

Since we're off topic, anyone have info on repairing the brakes on a 800 Series Ford?

  3. 2 very goods sites for Ford tractor repair:

www.tractobynet.com click on the New Holland (Ford/New Holland) and then clickon repair/owning link. Many guys there are very knowledgable and are always wanting to you out.

also www.yesterdaystractors.com and click on the Ford section. You can also do a search. The only problem if doing a search is so much information about your Ford brakes will come up you will be inudated..but that is a good thing.
    They are great sites.

Thanks,Superiorslots. I see you're from WV. This tractor actually came from Parkersburg back when I lived there around 1975.

Oh, and it appears to be www.tractorbynet.com. Thanks.

Dad bought a '67 1206 second hand from another local farmer, had the motor rebuilt and ran it until 2003 when the injector pump went south. During removal, I noticed that the turbocharger was about to shell out, so pulled that off too. Since I was between jobs at the time, I volunteered to fix up that old binder like new. We took it to the local tractor show in '04, and I rode it in the parade & did a few pulls (without weights!) while wearing my Houston Oilers cap. A picture of it showed up in the local newspaper the next day, albeit only as a prop for an ankle biter to sit on.

  6. don't draw and quarter me for thread resurrection, but add me to the list of tractor guys on here...with times being what they are, jobs hard to find, and mouths to feed, I had to part with some things I was sentimental about and get a tractor to work with. A '39 9N that everything actually works on...someone painted it like an 8N though.

Typical workhorse, at some point the block cracked and someone "jb welded" it, good thing they're non-pressurized cooling...no biggie, a friend welds up engine blocks.

at any rate, I've been an old tractor fan for a long time, we had an old '47 Farmall H that I used to chase my sis-in-law with just to hear her holler and see her make that face of sheer terror...

Probably the dealership- a good way to keep the shop people busy in the winter was to offer good deals on paint jobs- and the dealerships loved to "upgrade" the paint schemes- lots of 9N's got the "redbelly" treatment. My sweet little '50 8N with 1054 hrs and a Howard Reducer trans got a "bluebelly" treatment at sometime in it's life- and the original red is peeking thru where the blue is peeling. You can tell they pulled the sheetmetal off when they did it, everything underneath that used to be red is blue, they did a very nice job- but someday it's be redbelly again. Otherwise all original (except the tires) down to the rubber boots on the wiring, and the original 6V gennie and starter are working fine- and it purrrrs

My gramps had an IH dealership in NY in the 50's- early 60's, Cohocton Valley Garage, so I grew up "Red"- but we had lots of different tractors & stuff. He also ran a trucking and lime spreading company, and had several farms, so we had a bunch of little loader tractors to load the lime spreaders at his stockpiles, always had 4 or 5 locations- Ferguson TO20's & TO30's, an International 340 Utility, early 8N with the old "leave out the sleeves and use Merc flathead pistons" big bore kit (my favorite for plowing snow), and a Fordson Major Diesel. Farm tractors started with a pair of Farmall M's and a TD6 crawler, then moved up to a pair of 706D's, a 424 and my uncles' 420 Deere. Lots of neat old trucks, too, a bunch of REO's, a pair of '51's , a pair of '53's and a '60, plus three M35 deuce-and-a-halfs all as lime spreaders, and the Binder trucks, a pair of '57 S160's and a '60 A160 plus a 1-1/2 ton '53 Chebbie as farm dumps, and an R190, a pair of Loadstar 1800's and a Fleetstar 2010 with a 549 gasser as construction dumps.

Got a few (too many) collected here now, the sweet, tight 8N has the 5' mower on it, was a one-family tractor from Calistoga, and a pair of '53 Super M Diesels, one a Stage 2 with live hydraulics and power steering that came from Stockton, and the other is a very nice Stage 1 w/ 1840 hrs that came from the son of the original owner in Brentwood. A '50 regular M and a '53 Super M Stage 1 gasser that both barely got saved from the crusher, a very nice 450 gasser that led a pampered life in the orchards of Modesto and had 13 (no bullshit) different wasp nests in it when I went to get it, and an International 350 Utility Diesel with the Continental engine with "Energy Cells" that I drug home from Fallon. I guess the 1-1/2 ton '32 Ford dump truck should get lumped in with this stuff, too

Just bumping this back up because I saw it from the other tractor thread...

I've got a 1961 Wheel Horse Suburban 551 with a 5hp Techompsi (spelling) which is a factory motor. Just took it to a show last weekend. I've had it five years and bought it up in Denton NC back in 06. And it was bone stock, all rusty, everything original, but it ran. In 07', we mildly fixed it up (still need decals and rubber for the fenders/seat. But, we decided to keep the old, original, dry rotted back tires on it! I've never had to air them up. Every show I go to, I have people wanting to buy it, but as far as I'm concerned, I'll have it till the day I die! I also have a restored 1937 Briggs WMB (Washing Machine Briggs) gas engine my grandfather fixed me for my 7th birthday and I have a mini 1950's steam engine collection. Tractors were my first love before cars, heck, we used to go to 10-12 BIG shows a year, when I was still wrapped in a blanket. I got a john deere a pedal tractor for christmas when I was three, and I always entered and won in the pedal pulls and races. They called me the "Richard Petty of Pedal Tractors!" haha

I've always wanted a John Deere A, but they're so dang big, so I'd settle with an H model. But right now, I need to focus on a hot rod...after all, I can't drive a tractor to school!

-Cody (I'll post pictures of my Wheel Horse tomorrow.)

  14. I earned much of my living during the 70,s operating a 17 A. cable blade with a brush rake. Burned timber behind a powershift 7E with a cutter blade. We cleared much of the ARk delta fo rice fields. $6.50 per hour ans all the dust and ashes you could eat:eek: OldWolf

  15. I knew a couple of brothers who used a A John Deere for a car. They had lost their driver licence from too many tickets. They had a PK bed trailer with a Camper shell & matress in it, They would take turns driving and one their dates would ride in the trailer. They went to the drive in movies and everywhere. Even in the winter:D Old Wolf
