The guys that bought these cars for peanuts in the 70's are dying off and a lot of good stuff is selling. Plus the economy has something to do with it too.

F&J the carbs worked good i rebuilt them and tuned them myself, I do think it loads up a bit but i also have 2 cyl with low compression i have to tend to over the winter and maybe add a little C.I. :D The trans worked great it actually upshifts on its own at about the right time too they have a wire spring?? going from tranny to column. As i said before car road good except the rear is to stiff and spring is bottomed out so i will fix that asap and going to lower rear about 3 inches i think, and tuck the rear wheels in i am starting to like the rear fenders but not sure yet alot of people said to keep them cause the car has its own look from back then etc.

Jeffery James the car doesnt have any shocks right now lol i just got car july 29th so between getting it running and doing the brakes and wireing after it sitting for 46 years i havent gotten to the small stuff lol I wanted to drive it before winter:).

Bad penny same here wish we had more time to talk i did with scott but not you next time, Your a very lucky guy you got a bitchin car there. I relly like a full fendered 32 maybe someday ;).

slepe67 thank you very much on comment i heard that alot believ it or not on sunday. but those guys do a good job with what they build and with the price of most real cars its a another way to have what they want and to build it better than back then so i respect them with what they do. Believe me i had some haters talking about my car but i dont think they were really into real nostalgic Hot Rods I need to becareful with who I listen to for advice some people will say things that will just F-up the car and history.

Rockinthehawk stop by anytime would be cool to meet ya and maybe go to some shows?

nailhead tery i would have bought a car in pieces if i couldve found one I Got LUCKY and hada good friend looking out for me, THANKS SHELDON Terry i love your car what a great start!! congrats!!!

    Thanks johnny

Dave, that car is righteous the way it is. Don't listen to the haters, there's no need to make excuses for a car that was done back in the day. It's not your fault. :D

I'll try swinging by your shop this week. I've got a 66 Rambler I bought last year, the owner kept it garaged in fitchburg. I could use some help/advice on rebuilding and adjusting the carb. (never had a carb'd vehicle before!)

your in the same group as everyonelse idk what group that is lol...

Scott i am not worried i hear them i just dont listen, but its funny how many opinions are out there and these people dont have a clue..

Rockenthehawk stop by i should be here most anytime I have a old rambler out back i did a motor for 10 years ago rebuilt the carb, gen, rad etc customer never picked it up??

I started tossing ideas around on what to do to the rear suspension. Gonna keep it as close as possible to whats there just do it right. I kinda want to put some old school ladder bars on it so got lots to think about.I did a search on rear suspension here on hamb not any really good threads and went through 7 pages.

yeah, I agree with the Choppers. I want to keep my deuce as original as possible. RIght down to the wood. Anywho, I get tons of peope telling me that I should jsut weld in steel, sell the Hilborn and buy the new billet setup for half the price, etc etc. By doing this, I'm taking away from the soul and integrity of a 50's era hotrod. I hate the Lime Gold paint on my car, but I gotta tell ya, I feel like I'm committed to painting the car that color, beecause that's how itwas way back when.

I dont want to sound like I'm bagging on the Rolling Bones fellas. They build incredible cars & I would be honored to own one. But if it came down to a choice between a gennie car and one of theirs, well, it's gonna be the gennie.
What the hell am I talking about now? Rant complete. back to the thread!

Dave, I shoulda showed you the rear end in my car. It's real similar to yours. Angle iron brackets, bubble gum welds, homemade ladder bars etc. I had to cut an inch off the panhard bar to center the rear. I think the rear in your cars is alright. Sure it's too wide, just like mine, but that's how they did it back then, they weren't worried about how it looked. They just wanted something that would last, and that Olds is as good as it got. Maybe you just need wheels with a deeper backspace. You HAVE to bring that car to Alter Boys! They'll be no gold chainer billet boys there to hate your car.

Hey Scott I am, going to look at a bunch of cars and designs before i do anything to my car. The biggest thing is the ride its stiff ik its not gonna be like my pick up but theres gotta be a way to make it driveable it just slams so hard the body feels like its gonna come off frame lol. I am tossing the idea of the wheels and maybe just shorten the olds rear i just dont know yet what to do, I may just fix the spring mounts and shackles and so they work right and remove the panhard bar it doesnt need to be there and it is binding the rear up and banging. Idc about the haters or billet lovers theres enough of us that know about and like the cars we have. Its just funny to listen to some people. I will be at Alterboys I may trailer down though idk yet depemds on how much i get done i got to get the floor done and the generator and mount been waiting on a 12v generator for 2 weeks.. I will be there one way or another.

Hubcaps look good, however it looks much more ready to hit the local drag strip circa 1958 with them off. :D. I'm loving this car!

I'm so glad you're bringing to Alter Boys, that's awesome! Nothing wrong with trailering it there, it's a race car after all! I like the hubcaps too.
