I think I'm going to be sick...Jason Smith from Hot Rod Garage just called me about 10 minutes ago from Goodguys Indy...the 3w they built for Steve Kormandy was stolen about 2 hours ago from their hotel parking lot.

The coupe is a full fendered all steel 3w with candy root beer paint and Halibrands...easily recognizable. It has a monster 409 with twin carbs...car is worth several hundred thousand dollars.

The bastards stole the whole truck and trailer, moved it to a different location, stole everything in the trailer...then returned the truck and trailer BACK to the hotel parking lot! Brazen.

Jason said several cars and trucks/trailers were stolen last night. I'll have pics up as soon as Jason can send me some...he's kinda busy with the Police right now.

CAN WE POST THIS AS A STICKY? THANKS...

These cars must be stolen to be sold overseas to have a ring of them gathered up and stolen in groups like they are. There's no way something like that is stolen to be cut up. Hope someone figures out who's been doing this. I'll keep my car ugly so nobody will want it.

  7. I'll keep my eyes peeled here in St. Louis..... Hope it gets found!

    If you do.....

  8. I hate a thief, sounds like it was a well thought out plan and brazen is the correct word,,steal the truck and trailer, unload everything inside and bring it back as nothing is obviously missing!

We have said it before with the value of these cars today the owners need to get together and take turns watching the lots at night.

I do hope the gentleman has substantial insurance to cover his loss although that won't compensate for loosing such a nice car.

The police finding the car intact without any damage would be the best ending. HRP

  9. Whats up with people???Go out an work for your own things, take pride in yourself an a job well done!!! I hope you guy's get this car back its one BadAss coupe..

man, these guys are def shopping.. only guess its going overseas.. you are right.. it would be hard to chop these up.. unless you gonna sit on them for 40 years. but hell thief is in for a quick buck.. so yeah.. these shows are getting out of hand.. id be installing some kind of gps tracking device if i had such a car not that would help a professional who really wanted it.. but like the little paddle lock, keeps honest people honest.

Several cars and trucks stolen in one night? This was well planned out. sounds like they're trying to leave the country. I'd be checking the ports, and borders.

Just got another call from Jason...he thinks it was stolen by some amateur thugs. They stole things like...all the lawn chairs, battery charger, tie down straps out of the trailer. Then they took the DVD player out of the truck...one of the idiots even left his 44 ounce fountain drink in the back seat...and it still had ice in it!...Yeah, the cops got fingerprints.

So hopefully they will find the car intact...this is nuts. I feel so sorry for the guys at Hot Rod Garage.

Most hotels have security cameras these days. Wonder what it shows.

Just based on the threads I have been reading here on the HAMB there is no chance I would leave something like that ungaurded in a hotel parking lot, in a trailer or not.

Second morning in a row I've been woken up with a phone call. Today's being much worse than yesterday's. I'm heart broken.....
Jason and the HRG crew have spent hundreds and hundreds of hours and buckets of pride perfecting this hand made car. A car like this could never be sold complete, unless it's to some sick monkey bastard in another country. If it gets stripped for parts, please be wary of finned aluminum parts.....gauge panel, control panel, valve covers, custom air cleaner. Pics are being gathered to put up, I'll add any that I may have. Real Rodders Wheels, 16 x 10 and 15 x 4 spindle mounts with that "mag" finish. Hurst slicks with a dirt track tread cut into them. The body's been massaged one end to the other. Halibrand QC. Lots of orange and root beer parts (assuming they don't get stripped). Damage is already done, Jason, myself and I'm sure Kormandy, wanted to blow people away with this car in Indy and take a heavy stab at the "Hot Rod of the Year" competition.
Please keep an eye out guys, not only for the car, but, God forbid, parts from the car.

Unreal, unfair, just sucks. I feel so bad for all the Oklahoma boys at the Hot Rod Garage.

Strange thing is that Jason said that a security guard saw someone park the truck/trailer in the middle of the lot blocking traffic and the driver walked away and the security guard didn't even say anything to him. Yay for security...

Unbelievable! Just once I would like to read one of these stolen car threads where it ends in the thieves getting caught and beaten to a bloody pulp. Hopefully this will be the one.
