Scrounger Chris....Hot Rod Junkie from New Zealand.

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Kiwi Kev, Jul 1, 2009.

  1. I forgot to mention that Chris is a sometimes H.A.M.B. lurker. He is such a hard working guy I don't think he could find much spare time to spend on here. C&R Automotive is his shop and he does all kinds of automotive repair. He gets to work on plenty of early iron because he has a great reputation.

Great pics! Amazing collection of traditional hot rods and rare parts. Good to see rodding is alive and well in New Zealand.

  4. Chris won't be here for the Primer Nat's BBQ but he may make the Hot Rod Reunion.

  9. I was raised on Vegemite sandwiches and roast lamb. My dad and brothers were woodworkers. Not sure how I ended up hooked on hot rods. I have learned alot from Chris over the years though.

  10. You Guys have good junk as well.

I got my Lincoln Coupe from Florida. :D

    Thanks for the awesome Post!!
Looks like a lifetime of collecting......
Those home made parts too really show how resourceful you kiwi's can be - makes me think of that guy who built those Briton bikes from scratch.

Your Garage is not to shabby either....

Awesome! Thanks for that peek into Chris's garage and a bit of a look at, some more of, what's behind the reputation. Heaven indeed!

Ha, ha, swapmeets with Chris are always entertaining, but you gotta get ahead of him and stay there, which is neigh on impossible!

I don't think I will forget the look on his face when I managed to sneak in front of him at a local swapmeet and score a chromed 97 for $10. I think he only forgave me coz I am a girl!

    Awesome guy and family.

  18. Chris did a little scrounging on his last trip to the states. This is what went home with him....

I met Chris and some of the other Scroungers guys including their USA chapter (Kev) at the 2011 Blowout. Fantastic hospitality and event, I've already booked the airfare for next year.
