Guess I'll start this one off...
Here's one that a friend dug up from the net that needs to be seen..
Nice build who ever you are!!! ;):)
The model is the latest AMT 1962 Catalina 3'n1 kit release with the new tampo printed tires..

  2. Man, that is an ultra clean build with great attention with the paint detail!

This week I have not produced much, spent more time wheeling and dealing for more plastic;). Damn the H.A.M.B is such a good place!!
Re-visited an old build that has been sitting on the sidelines for a long while......
I think most of you have seen this but what the hell, here we go......again....

This Fuel Coupe is built entirely from spare parts and 'Junk' I had laying about in my parts box that is sadly now lost with my kit collection. I have very left little but with thanks to great people like LongDistanceOperator and KiwiJeff, I am beginning to build my parts supply back up:D.

Power comes from the parts box and I 'think' it's a 421 Pontiac that I made a crank driven front mounted blower. Cog box is a scratch built item that doesn't really represent any in particular:confused::rolleyes:. Rear end is a quick change again from the parts box.

Ch***is is scratch built from br*** tube and sheet soldered together. Like the cog box the ch***is is a composite of several types. I discovered it's ****** hard to find plans for early rail cars unless you spend a couple of hundred dollars on them. Hence it's not too accurate as it was scaled from photos.:(

Body is again from the parts box and has a narrowed Revell 3 Window top and main body from an AMT 5 Window Coupe. The top was chopped severely and the A pillars laid back with the windscreen having slightly less of a haircut.
Wheel wells were filled with styrene sheet and the rear of the body bobbed.

Have no idea what the wheels and tyres are from (Found in the parts pile).
So thats my Fuel Coupe, I may even finish it one day:eek:!

    Cheers,
    Doc.

You guys are amazing with your highly detailed and modified 1/24-1/25 scale models. I don't know how you're able to build something that small, so well! Here's some progress photos of that offset I'm scratch building in 1/8 scale.(so I can see it. LOL) [IMG]

  6. Here's a Nascar Replica I'm doing of Junior Johnson's '65 Galaxie - not complete.

And a finished copy of Pearson's '69 Talladega Torino which turned out better than I thought it would.

  7. Old Sprinter you are calling us amazing yet you are scratch building a masterpiece like that?? Take a look in the mirror, thats the amazing builder looking back at you!

Fordy, I love the G***er 56! The trim mount holes are a great touch!
I can appreciate the work in the copper 56, but sorry its just not my cup of tea.

    Thanks Deuces, much appreciated!

Here's one I was foolin' around with this morning..:rolleyes:
Thought about building a vintage "B" Production road racer out of it.. I do have all the parts which includes a "R" model front apron, rollbar, gages for the dash, racing decals and a set A.R. Torq-Thrust mags.. Should look cool when finished....

No models to share but here's a sketch I posted on the Friday Art Show that could be turned into a project.
The idea is very much in keeping with Doc's as it turns out. The inspiration was AMT's '40 Ford dirt track modified but
I'd go with a complete 40 coupe kit and go nuts from there, kit bashing and fabricating the phantom funny-car "what if"
as in, what if a guy during the infancy of the rail drags (slingshot) and right in the heart of the g***er wars, found an
old jalopy and built himself a funny car a few years before they hit the scene.
one major change I'd make is to delete the 'whale tail' rear air foil as it would be inconsistent with the era in mind...

    Here's a custom '40 that's been on and off my bench for the past couple months;

    And a mockup of a '34 Ford PU project;

I'm thinking of maybe changing the rear wheels/tires to the AMT '28 Lincoln, have to see how they look.

I'm also working on a midget racer (v60 version) just a box stock project and will build the '50 Ford PU box stock for a tow vehicle.

That's cool! I like to see in-progress model builds.. :) Maybe we should post a thread on the subject??? That way everyone can see what we're up to and get others involved in the hobby.. ;) What do you guys think???
