weight & color. Those sure look aluminum from here. Would also think it rare to find a uni-lug magnesium wheel.
take a stainless wire brush to it, aluminum should start to shine a bit, magnesium will look dull and darkish.
Eat them. If you feel less prone to osteoporosis and experience elevated energy then they're magnesium.
Can you hold it with one hand over your head? Thought so... They're aluminum! Sounds like you need to stare at a picture of a Halibrand and get familure with what the good stuff looks like. although I like Dreadybears answer...
Aluminum without a doubt. Oxidized magnesium is much darker than oxidized aluminum. Polished magnesium also has a slightly different hue than polished aluminum.
Scott I don't think that Ansen made a magnesium sprint wheel. At least I don't recall ever seeing one.
Hard enough to tell them apart that when I was in high school and the boat yard use to give us br*** and aluminum s**** for the foundry they ended up getting magnesium mixed in from time to time. The only time I knew there was magnesium in with the aluminum was when I got the cool colored flames out the top of the pot in the kiln.
Looks like aluminum to me also..bought 2 yesterday at a swap meet.. Rick =============================================
