    roadkillontheweb, thanks for the pictures. Picture # 5 ( in post #31020 ) is a 1956 FORD, not a 1958 as listed. Thanks......Russ

Look a little closer and you will see it is not an American production car, It is a Customline made in Australia and looks more like the 56 American production car than the 58 (like how my 56 Australian Desoto looks like a 1954)

I was under the impression 58 oz customlines or 'star models' used the Meteor grilles and that's an oz 57

ehdubya, while it is nice to know there is a name for the EJ/EHs ( two of the nicer - er ANZAC - cars, IMHO, other being FC/whatever-it-was ...) how come you call 'em 'sheershape'? and for that matter why 'shoebox' for what i figure to be what i grew up calling 'single- (or) twin-spinner' Fords?

It's probably shear shape and I think it was a marketing term like bonus built. I picked it up from an older brother who always refers to them as such and I think that was his explanation. Shoebox I've never understood and I remember being disappointed discovering those things didn't actually spin

The first shot with the plane came from the Wyoming memory project and I will be damned if I can find it again to get any further information from that source. The second shot is from Utah and there is another image that sows them putting the tracks on the Franklin truck.

The hispanic guy driving the truck saving the taxi drivers name is Jesus right?:D

Always been a BIG Jesus fan. But NOW I'll be all the more faithful to say
my prayers, knowing that he's a pickup guy from way back!

Good one, Dude! I GOT THE JOKE. Use to, as they drove along,
people would see the ubiquitous "Jesus Saves" signs and quip,
"At the First National Bank!" :D:D:rolleyes:

    '40s-era shooting gallery?

GRRREAT old diner shot! If the FOCUS were a tad sharper, I'd vote it
in the INSTANT CLASSIC category! The WHEN is pretty obvious (and
check that Buick 'vert!). But anybody have a CLUE as to WHERE  this
    may have been snapped???

Another poor soul snaps and symbolically strikes back after 18 years of his mom
making him eat "nutritious" stuff like broccoli, asparagus and brussels sprouts! :(
Unknown, even to close buddies, the trigger word that set him off was, in fact,
    "NUTRITIOUS"!

That cheery smile just warms the cockles of yer heart, eh? Jeesh!

For some reason the diner locale seems to be Florida to me. And I would say that the convertible on the left is a '47 Cadillac, not Buick. Very cool pic.

THANKS, Slim! You can surely tell I'm a MoPar guy, eh? :D

THE Gordon Buehrig! What a photo! Cord guys: That's an 812, right? 190-horse

supercharged L-head Lycoming V8 and four-speed gearbox. 50 percent more ponies
than the normally aspirated 810.

SPEAKING of trigger words, RoadKill, thanks for this Emeryville, CA, '66

snapshot! I dug through my own thread, Old Time Junk Yard Photos PIX
1920 to 1970 (History), and found the following heart-breaking color pix
from five years later. These are apparently from a major Emeryville
scrap business in the SF Bay area, shot in 1971 by Nick DeWolf of the
    flickr community.

Even though Nick took this pic 40 years ago, seeing all the Mopars in this stack is wrenching

to me, especially seeing the two '56s. And could that Dodge be an ultra-rare Matador?

It's kind of hard to imagine, TODAY, a time when '57 Chevys were about as common
as fleas on a dog's back :), and NOBODY worried a second when one went to the crusher!:(

Check the '58 Bel Air 'vert! :( Oh, no.
