Looks great! What are you gonna do with your glass for the rear? Are you gonna go "plastic" or stick with glass. A Buddy of mine chopped a HT in Denmark and he used a '58 Chevy windshield and cut it int 3 pieces! worked out great! Just an idea! Klaus
thanks guys! i really appreciate the positive feedback.. was a BIG decision to make! Bob is the true craftsman.. hes has a great eye for things like this.. he also chopped "socalchevy54"s chevy on here which in my opinion.. has the perfect look... should have some more updates later today..
UPDATE: Bob welded in the catwalk area today.. even the original glass fits damn near perfect.. needs the corner trimmed a bit and the inside edge trimmed.. Im getting all new glass anyways and we have a guy up here by us (forgot his name) but he has done glass for Jesse James cars along with Winfield, Watson and also Jimenez Bros.. so i think ill be in good hands
Oh yeah! That looks natural with the shortened roofline and extended trunk area while retaining the stock rear window. Seems like a simple and perfect solution for the rear glass on these hardtops. Any profile shots yet?
thanks.. no new profile shots yet.. gotta do some bracing and reinforcing around the package tray and inside.. gonna roll it out the shop again in a day or so..will have some new pics then!
CJ...your car was bitchin either way bro, Like Ian said tho....just a little taste! I know you were contemplating this chop for awhile and I gotta say you got it rite man! Keep up with the pics for us all!
thanks Eric! yeah i made the jump! no turning back! Good to see you a few weeks ago.. let me know if your in the hood again so we can hook up..
Goldilocks would approve...this one is just right! Nice job...great restraint by not taking too much off
Paul Rick??? The quote i got from him for the glass on the Cadillac is just amazing , seems like a great guy too... Couldn't believe it?!?!?! LOOKS GREAT!![/QUOTE] That sounds like the guy! How did you hear about him? I heard he does great work and is a helluva guy... im sure he will do your Caddy up right!
i think the chop is so subtle.. it rocks.. im glad you chopped it.. just looks like thats how the factory wanted it but the bean counters said no. chris.
the rear is staying glass.. needs very little cutting.. the original rear window already has a very low profile.. the rear section was cut and slid forward a bit.. the shape didnt change too much..plus we have a great glass guy lined up! Thanks BoB...slooooooowly but surely im getting there! hahaha i agree.. THIS is how the hardtops should of rolled out the factory... would of saved us alot of work too! haha
