Dude your car rules make's me wont to go out and start cutting and I will in time Ive been searching on here for a while looking for just this thanks for all the pictures and details keep us posted and and keep up the good work
Are you talking about triming the glass ? Im sure that glass is tempered if so it cant be done. better to make the adjustment now before paint and those are tuff windows to install too especially if your going to run the stainless and the re-pop back windows fit like shit , FYI You are on your way to a really sweet car, I love it!! Damm I loved it before
WOW! I want a hardtop back window for my sedan now! If its laminate you could probably trim that back glass with a belt sander if you were really careful and took your time.
thanks buddy.. yeah the rear glass is tempered, so gotta get the crappy re-pops!.. my front isnt though.. and the rear needs very little to get it to fit in.. the rear section didnt change shape too much.. just moved forward a bit.. but i hear ya.. might not be the easiest to do.. but we will make it happen! hahaha that made me laugh! you know you like em big! exactly... just laying the corner piece in now.. it aaaalmost wants to go back in as is! so with just a little bit of lovin', we should be able to make it work!
so glad your practicing with your ride.. you will be able to do it blind folded on mine looks AWESOME!
no problem! I painted your car blind folded so why not the chop hahaha! thanks buddy.. your ride is one of my top 10 favorites here on the Hamb
That sounds like the guy! How did you hear about him? I heard he does great work and is a helluva guy... im sure he will do your Caddy up right!
My 51 chevy is at Paul Ricks house as we speak. I hung out with for like 4 hrs when i dropped my car off. Super cool guy!! I've know about paul for years.
The chop looks really AWESOME!!! Love how you really did your research and didnt just chop it for chopping sake.

Hey appreciate it buddy! means alot coming from a "Cohino" .. love your chops!
Paul has had my car up there for a bit now. H e was cutting the new 1 piece windshield down and it crack. F@CKING!!!! C all him 1st and have him order the glass your gonna use. He said that the newer glass has been a pain a few time. The out portion of the glass is harder now, so gave him a hard time. The other reason its been up there longer is cause he travels a lot for work. Going to different shops all over the country to work with glass. So if you go up there my chevy might still be there. Give it a look and then laugh at the ugly beast.LOL!
Another thing. are you gonna run the wing windows? If so i would talk with Paul about it. There are a lot of chopped cars out there that cant use there wing window all that well. They will only open very little. Paul will be doing mine. He does it so they will open all the way just like from factory. Just something that pop in my head.
yeah were running them.. just going to move them forward a bit so they are proportionate to the rest of the windows.. Bob also chopped "socalchevy54"s chevy..and hes got functioning vent windows.. but thanks for the heads up! were actually taking that 54 over there too in the next few weeks...
looking great! Aren't the rear windows temperd glass?? I haven't heard of cutting temperd glass with luck, that's why I suggested the use of the '58 windshield. Just wondering!?! Klaus
Update: Today Bob and I worked on redoing the crappy previous owners hole filling technique! don't ask! hahaha! So we drilled out, used metal plugs, welded up, and grinded down... Fun stuff! Next, i wanted to lower the rear tail lights down about two inches.. center them up between the top of the quarter and the bumper. As they sit stock, they are all the way to the top almost on the curve of the rear fender. It will be something barely noticeable, but i think it will be a nice, subtle improvement..
didnt you just paint that about a year ago? i know, i know you would have to repaint it anyways after the chop. what color you going to do it up in silver again or some candy????
