That is a 3-part build, followed by a fourth issue with Ardun tech.
The build was by Don Francisco, super tech guru and super careful mechanic.
Other issues from same general period have an excellent valve job article and another good on on rings to flesh out all the details.
    Where in NJ are you?

Now...you are not allowed to use this info until you can properly identify the guy with the flattop eyeballing the piston! If you can't, throw in the towel and go buy a Camaro.

Thanks for posting these. I have the issues they were in at home somewhere, but it would probably take me a few weeks to find them!

How well I remember these three monthly articles. They came out when I was a teenager, without a "pot to pee in" and wanting to build one of these hot engines. I still have the copies and read them ever so often. Pat "too tall" Ganahl also had a 3 month spread when he took over

  17. As soon as you said "flat top", I had a pretty good idea who the mystery man was. I was right.

Now...good additions: Don Francisco on better valve jobs, same period, maybe 1954...and the PREVIOUS DF article series on Flathead building, I think April-May-June 1950.
Also there's a circa 1950 DF build article on V8-60 Ford, one of very few tech pieces on those!
