All it takes is practice. The more you build the more tricks you find to make it go easier next time. You start to get a feel for what will and won't work. I can't tell you how many times I have started a project and tore it apart to start over. Another malady you will find is a project will stall for whatever reason, and by the time you come back to it, you will have a fresh take on it and it will almost finish itself. Just DO IT!

Bringin' this 'round again. Did this for a contest specifically for the Tom Daniel Paddy Wagon kit.

Here is what the original kit looks like built by my friend Brandon Flannery....

Here is what my take on it is....

Started with a Boyd's Chezoom kit. I had originally sliced the fins off of this car to graft onto a modern Impala SS but by the time I got around to finishing it, Revell brought out the wagon version with the fins already on it. I grafted the fins back on this body then sectioned it down to make this dune buggy version for another contest. The wheels are the back wheels from 4 Jesse James motorcyle diecast.

I've got a soft spot in my heart (and head) for old drag cars so I did this as a tribute.

Don't let ME hog this thread. Lets see what else you guys have! Whether you think it's good or not, the fact that you build is the point.

I have always been crazy for El Caminos. About midway of my model building rebirth, I started doing "what if" versions.

I haven't touched my "what if" vintage road racer yet... Maybe I'll get started on the motor this weekend...I'm trying to find out what color was used on a '65-'66 289 hi-po motor... Ford dark blue er gold...

  22. I have a model I built of my truck that sometimes I set in the truck at car shows or whatever. They had a big truck show in town recently, and part of that was a model contest. Someone talked me into taking the model out of the truck and entering the contest. And the crazy thing is, not only did my actual truck win a first place cl*** trophy, but the model won its cl*** too! They gave me a trophy for that that was like ten times the size of the model! (lol)

The funny thing is, I've made a lot of changes to the truck since I built that, and was planning to tear that model apart and re-do it. So after I won the grand award, it is sitting in my back room in pieces right now. :D

Pretty cool story! Is your truck a '66? I am building a '66 shortbed for my wife right now.

    It's a '62 but thanks.

  28. Mine is a '63. The '66 probably has a flat windshield.
