Hey gang. I just got a call from a potential client that wants me to put together a ch***is for his '29 RPU. Normally, I would start with a stock Ford frame and work my way out... Not so this time! He has stated that he wants all new stuff. Last time I looked, it was cheaper to buy a basic "A" perimeter frame than jig up and build the same. The problem is, I haven't looked in many years! T.C.I. used to be the standard, but I have heard some negative stuff the last couple of years. A year and a half ago, I could have just drove over to Rod Factory, argued with Carl about how I wanted it to be, waited paid him and headed home to build... With him gone and Rod Factory closed, that's not an option. So, this is going to be a stock geometery, fenderless, small block, not completely traditional car (I'll work on him a bit!!!). The question posed: Who is building the best bang for the buck, quality Model "A" frame these days?
Perimeter frame is a right and left frame rail with a front and rear crossmember only. No X-member, mounts, etc.
Eric over at Rileys builds a nice frame....very easy guy to work with.....he's listed here along with a ton of others who build frames.... but he's the only one i have personally purchased stuff from...not to knock any of the others...
I purchased a Model A frame from Cl***ic Street Rod Mfg: http://www.cl***icstreetrodmfg.com/ Great guys and great service! And there craftsmanship is top-notch. My Coupe in my avatar sits on their frame. -Jeremy
