That's what I thought, too, considering all the debris. I wonder how deep and how fast the water has to be to nearly fold a car in half? Gary

I thought that was part of a horse drawn vehicle, everything would be covered in mud and dirt if it was washed there.

I crossed that bridge a little more then 30 years later and would like to go back up there as there was a yard with some old trucks on the Duluth side not too far from the bridge.

I would venture a guess at saying tornado before a flood since there's no mud and crap hanging off of the undercarriage that is typically seen in flooded cars......and a tornado would have more force then a flood to fold this thing around a tree! LOL!

Also a good possibility... But remember a cubic yard of water weighs nearly 1700 lbs. Just try stopping just one of them in a rising river. Gary

  18. I thought it came from the right......looks like it took out a shack first, see all the debris?

It's a flood, I've seen this scene played out many times...very typical.

I'm voting tonado. There looks to be a typical debris field just above the trunk of the car plus there is stuff stacked up against that tree in the distance that is on the opposite side in realtion to the car. Wouldn't a flood result in everything stacking up on the upriver side? Tornadoes scatter stuff everywhere.

The car in post 31355 was wrapped around the tree as a result of the New Braunfels Flood in May of 1972. See "Flash Floods in Texas by Jonathan Burnett".

Agree with flood. If it were a tornado, the trees in the background would have been stripped of their leaves if cars were being damaged with that magnitude.

There are a lot of pretty ladies today, but when I see one I start estimating the cost of the mods! Back then they were special because they were naturals.

sorry but all the junk yards on Park Point in Duluth by the aerial bridge are long gone. Pricey shops, condos and motels now dominate the area

That does not suprise me but where the trucks were did not look like a normal junkyard but possibly someones collection or a buisness that dealt with old trucks. I want to go back there and do some serious fishing sometimes in the future.

Somebody could have rolled it at a high rate of speed and this is the result with at least one person dead. It's definitely not appropriate for an "LOL" in that case....
