Hi,Guys...I havent posted in awhile...had a daughter, sold the projects and focused on work...
Now that everything is sort of allright, the bug has bitten again...
Im just about to close a deal on a 34 3w on Saturday, and Im already thinking about which motor I will use...Ive always love early Hemis, but Ive been researching here and I think they look great on A coupes and 32s but not on 34s...also I would like to have a hood and no fenders...I understand I will have to work on the firewall and have blisters on the side pieces on the hood...
My other option would be a Flattie, but its hard($$$) to get them right here...a SBC will fit right in without mods?...maybe something like a 283 with the right look...I know SBC can be boring,but...confused!!!...is it normal to be all over the place like that!?...its my first real build!!!
    Any inputs apreciated...Thanks!!!

  2. Got any pics of the project?.......SBC may be passe to some ..but you can't argue the availability and range of performance and dress up parts.
If you want something a bit more...cool/unusual, do as we do here in NZ...pull out your wallet....Hemi's and Flatties aren't laying about under every tree here either:D
Good luck with the project.....34's and 39 standard's are my fave 30's coupes.
Had a 39...let it slip away in a senior moment

  3. oh yeah all over the place is normal.......make a plan for several different builds and options.....write it all out with a price list....and then the pros and cons of each build. it helps identify the issues at hand wether its money or availability of parts. planning these things out is always the least expensive way of doing them.

even a Hemi is not all that unique anymore. a lot depends on how you will be using car - local stuff only, or some long distance stuff too? automatic or standard trans - what kind? will make a difference in part with type of motor you will run. of course, the size of your budget will make a difference too - if getting a '34 5 window will there be $$ left? sometimes you just run across the right deal that will decide for you. post pics of new toy soon.

  5. All over the place on an engine choice is normal for some. I have a project in the garage that has had 3 or 4 different engines between the rails. I still haven't settled on an engine for it and I have been doing this a very long time.

Engine choice a lot of times is driven by what is available at the time. It can always change later. Some cars get a lot of different engines before they are driven to the crusher.

Small blocks do not have to be boring. crate engines are boring but you can build a small block to be outstanding if you do it right. That can actually be done with any engine.

One could always put a Ford in it. that really doesn't get done much. I personally wouldn't do it myself but it ould be done.

This was sort of what happened...as I was traveling 600km to go look at the 34 3w,I made some calls and realized the guy Ive sold my last project in 2007 still had the car and he might sell it...to make the story short..I ended up buying my older 1930 5W coup body back and it was almost 1/3 of the asking price of the 34...with the difference I stroke a deal with the 34 owner and instead of buying his coupe,I bought his 354 Hemi ,brand new 32 rails, bomber seats, dash with SWs and some more cool stuff...suddenly all made sense...now its build time!!!
Thanks again for all the good advice!!!
