I am currently blogging my progress on this site. It's not to be taken seriously....... http://theadventuresofavalair.blogspot.com/
Looked at a 1955 Hiawatha the other day.Not sure of the exact length but it is around 12 ft.Tall enough to stand erect inside. The outside is a little grim but the interior wood looks pretty good.Didn't have my camera but may just buy it if I can convince my wife I need ANOTHER project.Guy's asking $600 but I think he will come down a bit.
This is one I seen at the grocery store leaving a couple days ago. Has to be early 40's. Probably is like a ship inside.
Just got back from Bonneville with the 52 Studebaker Camper. Towed the Avanti to Wendover and then to Sacramento for some mods on the Avanti. Left the Avanti in Scato and drove the camper home. This weekend the wife and I will join over 100 vintage trailer and camper owners at a show in Buellton, California. If you can, join us and be sure and stop by and let me know you heard about this event on the HAMB.
Love these oldies. These were posted on the "Vintage Shots from Days gone By" thread by roadkillontheweb.
I've found a Metzendorf near hear. Can't find much about it. Cool little trailer, but not sure if I can get it bought. I would like to know more about these trailers if anyone has any info.
Checked out this bus locally last weekend. It is a dead mint 1978 (Can't remember the make). The owner had the original sales sheet when it was new and the price tag was $350000 (In 78!!). It has a phone by the driver seat to call the person in the back bedroom, central vac and all the goodies a high end bus would have. Couldn't believe how mint it was with a price tag of $25000. Been for sale for while, so he would most likely take alot less.
Helped my brother load up the last trailer he had stored here since he moved to Colorado a few years back. Now i know why we put this one off till the end, worked our a-- off loading this thing, it's kinda a beast. It's a 46 Palace Royal. More of a park trailer then a travel trailer (still no bathroom though) but it's pretty cool. Aluminum over a wood frame and has some car type stuff. The windows roll up and down with what looks like GM window regulators and handles and the rear bumper looks to be a pair of bumper off of something, one split in two and added to the ends of the 1st one to make it wide enough. A lot of neat details thru out. It has a little history. The lady he got it from said her parents bought it new in 46 here in Albuquerque and hauled it up to Los Alamos where they parked it in one of the trailer camps set up there during the development of the atomic bomb and lived in it (her dad worked in the labs). Bet it was interesting living there at the time with all the security & secretcy involved. Said the lived there a few years after the war then moved on and bought a real house but never got rid of the Palace, would just take it camping once in a while. She kept it after her folks passed away but finally let it go after losing anyplace to store it plus it's deteriated to the point it needs restoration to be useable, didn't want to spend the money on it at her age. Been part of her life 60+ years, wow. My brother plans on restoring it and putting it in their park as one of the vintage trailer rentals.
It's not mine, but I brought it home for a friend. This is a 1936 Covered Wagon. The same buddy has this 1946 Spartan. And this is my Fiesta, I don't know much about it, but I was told it was a 62... any info would be greatly appreciated.
Im headin to Montana next week to pick up a 50 ? Bellwood camper. It looks pretty solid & was towed to the place where it has been sitting for a couple years. All I gotta do is--(yeah right) pack the bearings, wire in some lights, install better tires, I"m bringing along 4 mounted that should do. Anyone know of a website with info on Bellwood's? I havent found too much. Lucky me; the wife doesnt think this is my worst idea yet.
Picked up my Winter canned ham project today. 10 foot 1961 Siesta trailer, I'll tow with the F1. Guy in bib overalls (Bear) is who I got it from. Traded a 1970's Camaro 3:73 10 bolt axle + install into his 1970 Nova for it. Had to pull out Bear's other utility trailer first. Both of them were right up against the garage and naturally all the tires were flat. It has a little water damage inside but in good overall condition. No dents on the exterior and has original everything. I cleaned up the outside some but it was too dark for pictures. I'll post some 'clean' photos tomorrow.
It's a 46 Palace Royal. I am restoring a 1946 Palace now. your brother can see pictures of the trailer and a restored one at http://www.flickr.com/photos/92117/sets/ Also here is some art of a Palace from Bomonster John
I had been looking for one for a while and finally picked one up to tow behind my old truck. It's a 1965 Yellowstone 12' that I bought from the original owner's son for $700 with a clear title. My dad has a 1964 Wolfe 12' that he has had for four years. I'll have to post some pics up when I can.
Outstanding! You're doing a great job on yours, big job I can tell. I'll foward the link to my brother. Personally I'm not real fond of the outside style of the Palace but the insides are great. I have to admit the outside looks much better with paint!
