Wow, THANKS for saving us from the dreaded Chryco Bump
    there, JalopyJunkie! :D Great visuals!

Regardless of the location -- be it grand or ordinary -- sunlight
and fire make for some striking visual images, eh?

Like a hellish beacon, a Texaco crude-oil tank blazes against the night sky after being struck
by lightning, Harris County, TX. Jim Olive shot the photo, shown here THANKS to the U.S.
    National Archives and to FlickR.

Spectacular time exposure from the Ahwahnee Valley at Yosemite of the towering nighttime "firefall"
from Glacier Point. Started in 1872, the ritual treat became a tradition, last enacted Jan. 25, 1968.
Public domain but THANKS to Wikipedia.

Another Jim Olive photo, also shot for the EPA, June 1972. Sunlight reveals that beauty
can indeed be found, even in this auto junkyard, Fort Smith, AR. Thanks again to FlickR
    and the U.S. National Archives.

Photographer John Vachon shot the chimneys of a cement plant in San Juan, Puerto Rico,
for the EPA, February 1973. Photo thanks to the U.S. National Archives and to FlickR.

Once again, the sun as artist, turning high technology into a thing
of wonder. Olive captured this view at the P.H. Robinson Generating
Plant near Houston, July 1972. I thank the U.S. National Archives and
    FlickR.

My dad put up these towers and many like it across the Western US and Canada when I was a kid. Got to see a lot of the good old USA, but also went to 17 different schools

From the sublime to the obscene? Talk about a study in contrasts, eh? Modern buildings
stand tall, as if blissfully unaware, or uncaring, of the squalor at their feet. :( John Vachon
captured this visual contradiction in San Jaun, Puerto Rico, February 1973, for the EPA.
Photo THANKS to the U.S.National Archives and to FlickR.

Heard that, RoadKill! I guess all that moving around either made you well-adjusted and VERY outgoing OR really freaked out! LOL.

Rondal Partridge shot this photo April 9, 1940, for the National Youth Administration.
It shows a 16-year old lad whose "Labor Contractor" button permitted him to work as a
pea picker alongside adults in California's San Joaquin Valley. At 16 cents a hamper
of fresh peas, he'd earn about two dollars a day. Image thanks to the U.S. National
Archives and to FlickR. My fat fingers on the keyboard are telling me it's time to

    take a break!

Asher, Oklahoma had a town baseball team as did most other small towns in the early part of this century. They played for the fun of it, not getting paid ton's of cash like some of the pros do today. The closest we have today are the independent minor leagues scattered around the country.

Shawnee, Oklahoma was the location of this picture sometime in the early 50's. The automobile was identified as a 40 Merc.

They didn't know what this car was. The girl was named Annalee.

In their tribute song, the Eagles' lyric said,
"Live fast, die young." :( Thanks Wikipedia
for the single image, fair use for an infor-
    mational forum like us.

I feel like one of these is a repeat but I am not sure, little hard to keep track of all of them.

  30. The EPA just loaded down the entire Concrete and Cement industries with regulations they will not be able to meet in the time limits given if at all. I was going to post the article but i didn't because i was the only one involve in the industry , most of my life. I might still have the article in trash.
