Check Orbitz/Travelocity or call around. There are a lot of hotels in Decatur/Forsyth and I heard of people getting rooms as late as this week, so there are still some available

I don't know if it's already been noted, but it's homecoming weekend at Millikin University in Decatur that weekend so rooms may be scarce because of that as well.

Are there any gas stations in Decatur, or Bloominton/Normal that sell racing gas?

speaking of gas, the price is dropping just in time for the yearly pilgrimage. hopefully it will be close to $3/gallon by next weekend

I will be leaving the Lasalle-Peru area on Friday around 2 o'clock or so. If anyone is interested in joining up to cruise to Decatur let me know. I am running the backroads, nice and leisure.

You can keep up with gas prices with this link. You can also search for stations with types of fuel, like diesel. I haven't tried it, but I bet there is an option for race fuel

Here are some places to call and check,

Billingsley Amoco they have a few stations in decatur and they are drag racers,I would call the one in south shores and ask for Jay, Owner and drag racer,

Performance Transmision in Clinton talk to Bob he could give you a lead of where to go, A lot of Street Racers in Clinton.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone involved in this show... The Pile-up has been my favorite show and gave me inspiration to build my '36 chevy truck... I just started on it and always swore this would be it's first show but i'll have to pick another one for that honor... I won't be missing this show for anything! SEE YOU THERE!!

I've searched on-line for race gas, and all that I've been able to find are the gasoline distributors, not the individual stations. Just thought that someone on here might know of a specific station. There's one outside of Washington ILL. that sells the lower octane race gas, but not the 110 stuff. However, it's still a bit of a trip from Washington to Decatur.....Especially, with 4:56 gears. I can always carry extra in gas cans, if needed.

As far as price.....The cheapest that I know of is over $6.00 a gallon, so price is kinda irrelevant.:eek::eek:

hey - if you see a camera pointed at your car - try not to notice it.
just like in Apocolypse Now - DONT LOOK AT THE CAMERA
    ha
I will be running around filming this weekend and hope to be able to ask some of you what your fave memories of past HCPU would be.
This may happen on Friday night as well as Sat. afternoon. So if you see some guy with a camera coming up to you - it may be me.
    Seeya soon.

For those coming across on 36 from Indiana, you will want to stop at Scooter's in Hammond, IL for the best cheeseburger you will ever eat...

We made it a point to drive out there on Friday last year, not only was the food great but the local people were a hoot. We had a great time talking with everyone.

Plan on making it for lunch again this year !!
