Post pics of phaetons- Lets see the tubs!!!

That is a Tudor sedan with the top cut off, not a phaeton or touring car.

 

It seems to me that a lot of Cheap 1940's 4 door sedans could be made into a very nice phaeton.....

Just a reminder to keep this thread headed in the right direction,
- 'Tubs' are Phaetons, with no side windows, bolt-on/removabe windshields.
- 'Convertible sedans', often confused for phaetons, have roll-up side windows, fixed windshields like woody or cabriolet.

This one hit the streets of Boise this last spring. A friend built it and had it sold way to cheap before it was finished.

This picture is what made me think that a phaeton was a better pick as a hot rod over a coupe coupe or roadster,,,,you can take the grand kids cruising with you!!!

imho i pick a phaeton over a coupe or roadster,,,because you can take the grand kids with you and you can drop the top too!

and you can haul a lot of junk in the back

 

Technically a Touring...

 

This is a great thread, so glad to see that you cud get your Chevy, and one of the rarest, included amongst all the Fords.

 

i love my roadster pickup ! but my next project is a touring or phaeton ! i love the thought of being able to cruise w my buddies and a quick little cover over the back portion when not in use gives it a sinister look ! not alot of phaetons around here although that would be my first choice , the touring boddies seem to be easier to find !

Good to see it restored in #122. Flathead Cad powered,Owner then and now, Salem,Oregon's own Wayne Mahaffey. He is a true Oregon Hot Rod Hero!

 

Same here! Got to see it at the Forest Grove Concourse this year...awesome car!

He truly is! ..First NW car to be featured in HRM 1951. My Grandfather was a member of the "Pacers" of Portland. This was taken (along with the other 300+ photos that he took) at the old Scappose, OR drag strip prior to 1954.

Anybody have anymore photos of Richard Graves 32 ? That car made a big impression on me when I was young Hot Rod not painted perfect just driven and enjoyed . Maybe the load of girls lovin it in the rain helped .

 

I built this Willys Jeepster phaeton, a few years ago and sold it. Realy enjoyed the thing. This is a 1950, they may the last phaetons built in the USA. Not sure if that's a true fact. Realy liked the back of the car.

Right on Dave, the Jeepster was one of Willy's best models. I've owned several in the past and if I could find another I'd snap it up in a heart beat.

Can you tell me where this photo came from and any history of the car like who and what was used to build it? talking about Chevy Phaeton

 

That wouldn't be a phaeton as it appears to have side glass, roll up windows. It would be known as a convertible sedan. Chevrolet didn't make one from the factory, it's likely a custom, perhaps using components from similar year Buick or other GM that did make CS styles then.
