We used to call it "The inverted bath tub", when they first came out!!!

 

My uncle bought one new and traded for a new 60 Impala. My mother said the upside down Nash was the ugliest car ever.

When I reminisce about the old days that is what I see.

How time has changed things....

The advent of WW-ll placed men overseas and the Ladies had to take
the place of the fellas that left for the European Theater.

This meant that Ladies changed from wearing such beautiful attire to
wearing men's style work shirts and pants.
-You couldn't work in the manufacturing plants in any loose fitting clothing and
legs in particular had to be covered so pants or overalls were the norm.

Unfortunately, this WW-ll manufacturing requirement changed the Ladies attire forever.
After the war ended most ladies increasing wore casual pants and men's style shirts until
the beautiful attire of the early 20th century was pretty well non existent (the
mid 60's).

During that same time frame, the 1930's auto designers/engineers returned from the war operations
and changed the way that cars were styled.
After WW-ll, the Designers brought a new outlook back with them and began designing
cars with an eye on the aircraft.
You don't need to look far to see the influence of aircraft when you look at a 49/50 Ford
or the Studebaker coupes of the same period.



It's funny (sad actually) how such a dark time in world history placed so much influence
on the day to day life of ourselves and our forefathers thereafter.

#31782 Wow ford held up by a bumper jack in front and a dual bumper jack in the rear, normal for the times but scary.

 

Forget Marylin, Bridgette and Raquel, -they were the beautiful faces that you could never kiss.


It was the girl at the local soda shop (or at the theater ticket wicket) who were always approachable.

Thanks Roadkill, this is one of my fav's when it comes to woodies, knowing that finding a 32-34 ford is almost impossible, this packard really looks killer.. not sure what year it is,
guessing I would say 38-41,, very nice

 

My best guess is that it is a '37.

MrModelT, I find those little tid bits and pictures of "Grandpa Fred" and the family really interesting, especially about the old farm truck, the old house looks like it was a beautiful house, and the funny story about the dog, if you have more pictures, I would imagine a lot of folks here would love to see them.
