I might get clubbed for suggesting "chevy" carbs, but how about 3 rochesters?? get you some more cfm, and maybe get a little closer to the demon, but still look at least somewhat vintage. Or build a 4x2 ram log for 3-bolt carbs?

  3. No need for a "clubbing" I have always liked the old 2GC, they are a pretty good carb IMHO. The Q-jet too, all the bad jokes come from guys that just don't know how they work.

How did it do with the 4bbl compared to the 3x2s?

  5. It did a lot better, of course, but due to some mistakes on my part he didn't get to show full potential. That wheelie in my avitar looks cool but it's from a second gear start. DOH! :p

I will be installing the "real" engine in a couple of weeks, the engine that's in it now is still my extra pickup engine. I think it's time to put that one in my '58 too, my clutch is going to need to be changed soon so that's a good excuse. I can tell everyone that my pickup has a 10 sec motor in it. :D

Are you going to see what it will do with this setup on a good run before you change the engine?

    Awesome thread!

  8. I'd like to but I just don't have time before Eagle Field and I have to put the 322ci engine back in for that. It's been a good runner though, I think the 322 will actually be stonger. ;)

  10. OK, getting ready for ANRA at Famoso and done with Eagle Field from last week. I put the cam from the 322 into the 338 and went back to the four barrel and Blue Thunder intake. I think it will do very well. :D

Another great day at Eagle just for the fun of it!!!!!!!!!! and it was FUN!!!!

  20. That is the best thing about a car like this. Not the fastest but it always ready for the next race at the end of the day. Knock on wood.

Off topic I know, but love the old military (Brit/Canadian) Triumph TRW in the background of this photo.

  23. Thanks! I like it. It's been to Bonneville twice with me. BTW it is a Canadian AF bike that was in a crate till 1974, I'm the third owner since it was ***embled. :)

The early TRWs had head gasket issues, the head studs were too small. If you blow a head gasket and you have the 5/16 studs replace them with 3/8 studs and good things wiil follow.

  25. It did have a problem when I first got it, head was warped badly but gasket wasn't blown, re-surfaced the head and re-used the gasket as it was impossible to find one. Works great now! If it happens again I'll look for a new gasket and remember the stud trick. ;)

  26. Awesome build!.... and I'm only half way through reading it!!! Will have to re-visit as time allows.

  27. A little tease here. This engine was ment for the Uni but since I will be staying in D cl*** it will now go into the Dragster. The engine in Elwood will go into the A Tudor I'm building. ;)
