I was at a friends house I haven't seen in a while and ended up leaving with a couple free parts! not much today, a rebuilt '40 master cylinder and a 32 radiator that needs a little work. not bad! a couple months ago I ended up with 3 free '55 Chryslers (one 300!) and a bunch of 331 hemi parts! what kind of cool stuff have you guys got for free? pics are cool if you have them. its a b rad I think, but it was free! here is the link to the Chrysler 300 score http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=593699
HAMBer 8-Ball and his brother stopped by my house when they saw my sedan outside. They introduced themselve's and asked if I had guages for my 36 Ford dash. I didn't so 8-Ball invited me over to their shop and gave me a set of 36 Ford guages, plus a box of flathead gaskets
Free stuff is the best. Over the weekend I got 130 bucks worth of primer and osfo, the store manager screwed up and only charged me 8 cents . But on Monday the dudes came to my house and asked if I would pay the balance.
i'll be honest again, in 1977 i was offered a free 392 compleat and running. i picked it up and it sat for about 12 years. i lost the storage where it was and i gave it to a friends older brother who had tons of space. another 18 or so years go by and i'm talking to my friend and i ask," what did your bro. do with my old hemi?" he still has it, and the city is making him clean up his place. two weeks go by and my friend shows up with my old hemi. got it for free, lost it, got it back! all this could happen because there were no women involved. what ever that means.
i got a set of roundy round sbc heads that have been cut down like crazy. like to the point where i need to hack up a swap meet intake to make them seal. but they got good valves & springs & they were free so i'll prolly throw a time bomb together with them.
About all I got was a good early Ford Banjo steering wheel, but I gave my parents a complete running and finished Hot Rodded 38 Ford Coupe. That count? Doc.
that is awesome! I have had a lot of help from fellow hambers in the last couple years. Needed a 6 volt voltage reg to make it to my wedding in july. posted it on the local hambers social group and ended up getting a free one with a kick *** vintage finned cover from a friend! thanks rich! the guys in my club have all kicked in and let me borrow/have parts to keep the ole shoebox on the road. that's what it is all about man!
I bought a steering column last week and they threw in the steering wheel. Which was a rare one year only wheel with a clock in it. I'll do okay there.
I've been giving KH wheels, 30' Ford cowl, 289 c4 and 9", 33 axle, 30' Ford door, 4bbl carbs, holley 94, pair of BLC's, Model A rear spring, 40' Ford Front spring, valve covers, and several other things I can't think of....that's why they call me Lucky.
I was given an old unused solid lift clay smith cam for a sbc from the 60's, and a tri power for a sbc one an old offy intake with the proper outer carbs, linkage, air cleaner and all.
Recently over last 2 Months I received from localFarmer a 1934 Studebaker 30cwt tray truck less front axle ***y,To be rebuilt Modern Restoration,Also from a long time Fellow Rodder a 259 Studebaker motor n Auto running condition Cabin Rear section was built using Cedar and Flat Galvinised Iron These have stood up to Years sitting in Open on Farm. When I learn how to post Pics I will Share My find.
got this for free while rooting around at a garage sale....saw a model a coupe door for sale, and asked where the rest of it was. The gal sent me around back and told me to take the rest...under the tarp was the rest of the 5 window A coupe. needless to say, i had to change my depends, and quickly called a friend who had a trailer handy, and within 30 minutes it was home....then i did something stupid, and sold it. here's a pick of the "free five window"

I have this patient who has a small boneyard dealing in vintage tin only. A few years ago he knows that I'm looking for something to build with my kids. They were like 12, 10, 9 and fours years old. At the time they were in the middle of a horrible divorce and their mother was trying REAL hard to ruin my relationship with them (B*TCH). So, one day this patient shows up at the end of my office hours with this Ex-Old Navy display truck on his wrecker. I ask him if it's for sale and he says, "My landlord is getting on me for having too many cars in my yard. If you take it NOW, you can just HAVE it." That truck saved my relationship with my kids and turned them all (even my daughter) into serious gear heads. Now we're into our first traditional hotrod build and they're loving it. Attached pic is how we got it. Andy
1958 354 hemi swapped for a 400 big block Mopar that I had less than $50 into. Not quite free but close!
