Well since your appraiser has not seen any better 55s in 35 years, what kind of appraisal amount did he give you ?

Yes, it probably uses tubes. I believe the stock 55 radio is a 2 piece thing. Half of it is mounted behind the control panel, the amplifier is behind the speaker grille with a cable running between them.

The appraisal was $15,000.00 which was also accepted by the provincial insurance company.
The two piece radio has the tube part behind the grill. When I first looked under the dash I thought it was a speaker from a drive-in.

  4. Original 55 150 Texas car, Had heater and radio. Very early production. Only two numbers in the vin the rest were 0's. Interior of your car looks stock but is very good condition for the windlace. Easy way to know for sure is to pull the rear cushion and look at the springs for rust and old burlap spring covering. IMHO

garnish would match the interior, not the outside, so blk/w int. gets blk garnish, red/w gets red etc.....

  6. Here's a few color, trim and interior charts for the 150.

There are some differences between the U.S. and Canadian built 55, model 150's. The Canadian built ones had side trim that looked like that of a 210, Handyman Wagon from the U.S. U.S. built 150's had NO side trim at all. The dash looks like a U.S. built 210, probably another difference between countries of build. Is the headliner a velvet-like cloth or vinyl? U.S. built would have been cloth, while the 210 Del Rays and Bel Airs got vinyl. Your 55 also has a deluxe heater, "most" 150's had the basic recirculating style heater. But, being from the frozen north, it would really need the better heater. Lots of options came into play on these cars. I agree on the radio, it was pirated from another make, it's definitely not Chevrolet. It may have a make or another name on the casing part of the radio. It's the vibrator tube warming up that makes the hum. How many miles are on the car? IF it was stored indoors, and taken care of, the interior could be original. There's even visible paint on the wheels (pin stripe) that's not faded or worn away; that I've never seen on a Chevrolet since 54. Very nice car by-the-way. Butch/56sedandelivery.

P.S., You might want to contact HAMBER "Bob W", he's Canadian also, and knows his tri-fives.

I never picked up that the 150 never had side trim (US models). Always thought that side trim was 150 anything in 55 and never knew it to be 210 wagon only. Thanks or I would have kept on Bsing people with out knowing it .

$15,000 for the best original 55 he has ever seen? Doesn't seen like a lot of money for the poor pretty thing? Not like he has seen one that you could replace it with for $15K.....in 35 years.
