The text on the car says:
Don´t buy a Ford because it is cheap, buy it because it is good.

I agree 100 percent, fortunately Fort Worth has kept a lot of its heritage and culture. Its just expanded.

  15. From a guy who lives with chronic pain 24/7, this thread has been pure therapy. I go through about 10-20 pages every evening and it helps me sleep when I'm laying there aching. Remembering days gone by seems to help me relax. I'm searching for some of my old pics now and will post soon. Thanks guys for the time machine..

The U.S.S. Texas Battleship before and during its repairs in dry dock. If you dont know anything about the Texas you should. Built shortly before WW1, was the first ship to ever launch a plane from its deck at sea and served in the Atlantic and escorted the German fleet to Scotland after surrender and was there when the German fleet scuttled their ships. WW2 It served as the Flagship of the Atlantic fleet and was their at during the landings in North Africa and D-Day providing fire for the landing troops (If you've seen Band of Brothers in the episode you hear big shells come in and they talk about the Navy is beginning shelling, thats the Texas). Was transferred to the Pacific soon after and became the flagship of the Pacific Fleet and provided fire at Iwo Jima and Okinawa. She recieved 5 battle stars and became the first Museum battleship. There are much more things the Texas accomplished so please read up on it.

Yes, I noticed that also. Threw me for a loop for a minute. I wonder who built those cabs?

Here is one from my town.

This was built in the 1880's and housed the IOOF, they held their meetings on the 2nd floor and rented out the first floor to various business's over the years, the last one being a Antique store, now closed.

I don't know what I did wrong in scanning this to not get just the picture, any body got any advice for me.

Got a bunch of stuff to post but not everything is in Photobucket yet. In the meantime:

Malibu, CA 1965 - My boss and his sister on his mom's and aunt's laps - the aunt's husband sold this '62 300SL for five grand in '76. Now they go for half a million.

'57 or '58 Chrysler 300 being used at my high school (before I was there) for one of those whack-the-old-car-with-a-sledgehammer fundraisers.

Goodyear inflatable rubber airplane at 1959 Las Vegas airshow (from 8mm)

My parents' first car - '48 DeSoto, 1952.

Me (on Grandma's lap), my mother and my cousins. I just had to do something with this picture:

Me on the left - Christmas '64. (Just ignore my little brother.) Note that pretty much everything I got is a car, right up to a Crusader 101.

Me (aka Little Smartass) and Dad's '61 Dodge, 1965.

Me again, with my '62 Imperial, 1982. From a Kodak Disc - it was a bear scanning that negative.

Shot at Ronnie's Automotive Service in Altadena in 1982 before they restored the place.

May '62. NAS North Island, San Diego (I think).

El Monte Drive-In Theatre shortly before it closed for good in '92.

NYC April '56. Godzilla, King of the Monsters playing at Loew's State.

My dad in the USAF in Japan in 1948.

    More to come...

  23. Don't know what kind of scanner or software you're using, but would guess that there's a button you click that does a preview scan that gives you a view that looks like the image you posted here. Look around at the other tool bars or buttons for something that says "CROP" or maybe looks like a picture frame and click on it. This should allow you to click and drag a frame around just the area you want to scan. Then you click the SCAN button to scan just the selected area.

Then there's the issue of setting the scanner resolution. This may take a bit of experimentation. To display in the forums here you don't really need anything bigger than about 800 x 600 pixels. If your original picture is 8" x 6" set the scanning resolution to 100 DPI (dots per inch, or may be listed as PPI, pixels per inch, or LPI, lines per inch). If the picture is 4" x3", scan it at 200 DPI. Either way you'll end up with a 800 x 600 pixel scan. It just takes a little time to wrap your head around the math. :D
