Or is that Fiftysevenchevy? Or maybe '57 Chevy? I dunno... but I bought one. So I want to get some ideas... see some '57 Chevies... ones that you guys like... 'cause I'll probably like them too. It was too good of a deal to p*** up. Many of you know I've had a couple '55 Chevies... one when I was a kid, and one for the last half-dozen years or so. Well, I sold that one... and wanted to buy a truck, then I came across this, and couldn't p*** it up. Lots for me to do to make it mine... especially the replacement of the fenderwells with stock ones to ditch the fibergl*** flares (yuk)... and a BUNCH of other stuff. I already bought some quarter panels off a four door. I LOVE the Project X '57... and the Tales From the Cript '57 too... Lots of ideas swarming in my head... too much to list here now... But '57 Chevies, to me... were always clunky compared to the '55... it was like, if ya wanna go fast, build a '55. If you want to cruise... build a '57. I'm somewhere in the middle with this one. Even though when I bought it... I didn't really like them. Then it happened, it grew on me... I LOVED the color... as it reminds me of a '57 that used to cruise Modesto in the 80's... Besides, most guys paint them black, blue, red, turquoise... or yellow. This one... in '76 Chevy Lime Green... is different enough that I like it. Anyway... enough about me... let's see some Fiftysevenchevies!!! Sam
Naaaa... not my style. I guess I've just never been into customs. Plus, my wife would never go for it. She'd say something like "You're NOT going to build a F***ing LOWRIDER out of that thing!" And I'm not someone who consults my wife on what I do out in the garage. Plus... as you know... I kinda swing away from traditional "tradition"... Here's some pics I've collected. Sam
More Fiftysevenchevies!! I know, I know... And one of my all time favorites (It needs real old wheels, not repops)...
love 5,6, and 7 Chevys. I had a 57 hardtop, 57 two ten sedan street freak, and a 55 Nomad. When I was a Senior in High School, I was driving the hardtop to my off campus drafting cl*** and the teacher had a 46 Ford Coupe. He noticed the 57 in the parking lot and asked if we knew whos car it was. I told him it was mine and he replied " a 57 Chevy is the car to have, it's everyones car." If you are over 45 years old, you will know how legendary the 57 Chevy is, unless you were living on Mars during your youthful days.
hey sam ,i,m surprised no one is flaming the 57 post must be the kinder gentler hamb... i have always had a soft spot for 57s this is my cousins car from 1983 ,it started my car addiction ... nothing too special .. but to a 4 yr old kid it was the coolest thing ever it had a 9,000 rpm 327 and a muncie .with 4.56locker ...he still has it but it went to pro-street hell in 1989...i would love to build something similiar someday
Keep that paint going and thrown a solid axle under it, Go for what your into and it looks like G***er's get you going. I think the Moon tank is always a cl***y touch and separates the people from saying what and why to us saying yep thats a spun tank i wander what else hes got in there. Go with your gut when looking for a direction but always research, i have changed alot on what i want when i build my roadster from many guys on here with there build's.
These are not **** '57's. Wicked looking rides. A splash of chrome (straight axle) up front would look killer with this shade of green. 331?
I have always wanted a 57. About 23 years ago I went over to a friends house and he asked me if I knew anyone who would want the 57 in his yard. I asked, "how much?' He said, "whatcha got to trade?" I gave him several boxes of harley parts, basically got the car for free and drove it home. I still drive it but its a 4 door wagon-yuck! Ya gotta be careful what you wish for, you just might get it and find out that your wish was not specific enough
Sam we called them "Five Sevens" fifty seven was relegated to fords and other makes. Never the less I have only owned one and that was because I got it in a trade. Finny for a Chevy guy isn't it. I don't have any pics but thanks for your pic. I haven't seen a good start on a post car in quite awhile.
I like the "57" best of all the chevys and that coming from ford and study man to boot! There just nuts and bolts but a few look much better then others.
some day id liike to get a57 chevy sedan to park beside my 57 ford sedan in the garage your (the op) 57 looks like it has real close to what project x had for rear wheel wells in the hollywood knights (best version) id have to leave them on it and paint it "tony nacny yellow" id love to clone project x from the knights i think your car might of been a feature car in a hotrod or car craft maybe was even acover car
Sam you forgot to show the W engine power plant It now has factory trips. I know you are a SBC kinda guy. My pictures but not my car. It is a cool car! I hope you guys have a sense of humor. I just couldn't resist.
Are those the correct exhaust manifolds? Maybe I'm full of it, but I thought the 283 had ram horn manifolds. But what a car! Legendary. Frank C.
At one time back in the mid '70's, I owned thirty of them...those were the days you could pick up a '57, nearly any body style for less than 200 bucks...no one wanted them. I've built plenty of them and have lots of ideas...but the last two I built are not HAMB friendly so I don't post any pix here... I can send you a couple of pics, via e-mail, IF you'd like to see them and maybe see, or get some ideas...however, it depends how much of a "trad" bent you like...mine have lots of body mods... R-
