That is one of great things about 57 Chevys. They make a great stocker, Lowrider and Hot Rod. One of the very few cars that are loved by the lowrider crowd and the Hot Rod crowd.
I like the Gold Rush car. If you don't mind the front bumper etc. being on the car, you could go for a Modified Production groove. I see carbs sticking out of the hood, what engine does it have. In Mod Prod. originally you could use any engine/induction parts made by the car. Later they allowed aftermarket intakes etc. (chevrolet) manufacturer. One of the coolests was Ralph Ridgeway or maybe Carrol Claudle used a '63-'65 Rochester Injection manifold and mounted two "409" AFB's for a homemade GM tunnel ram and hauled ***. This ideal led to Edelbrocks original TR-1 which ran circles around there crossram (like 50-60hp at peak rpm).., so 300 incher and stick? Got to go to lunch, more later.
Be a fun car Sam. I always liked 57s w/o the front bumper. We had a couple of em in my teens. 56 is still my favorite but I like all the years in one way or another. Keep us posted!
I've also been thinking awhile about doing a hard hit 396/402 combo, a good 375hp/396 stocker engine these days makes 600+ and a Super Stock combo is pushing 800HP. Of course these would not be the most street drivable, but I think you could make 500-550 ish ad be streetable. One of the guys mentioned a "W" motor. Last year we did a set of 348 stroker pistons for Joe Sherman. He used the Eagle 4.00 stroke crank and .250 long BBC rods (6.385). An Isky cam and the Edelbrock top end. He worked on the heads some and use 750cfm AFB' with 2" carb spacers and the engine made 650HP on pump gas. I don't mind the rear wheel wells on the car, they are already headed towards the Project X look, just knock back the flares a bit.
Nothing special, but, it's my first car and i've owned it since i was 14 which was 23 years ago.. This is the last makeover i did a few years ago. I now sports a NOS Cal Custom tube grill instead of the stock one in the pic, but the rest is still like that. When spring rolls around i'm planning to swap the rims for some chrome steelies i have. Just tired of the TT on it.....and i have a GMC blower too....hmmmmm Tony
Lots of good pics... and great ideas. I have been collecting parts since I bought it a couple months ago... So far I have a standard bore small journal 327... a C3B intake, Vette valve covers, camel hump heads... a 4 speed, and '57 Pontiac rear end housing... I also have the rims... original American 5 spokes... like my '55 had. I'm gonna run bias ply tires... I sold off the high back buckets... and am looking for a reasonably priced bench seat. I did buy some '65 SS Chevelle buckets, but they are too small... Impala buckets would work. But I like the bench seat. The engine... you guys would die if you saw it... let's just say I saved this car from 1993. Luckily it has been in storage since then! It's THAT bad. It IS a 454 with 427 heads and a tunnel ram... all fresh... But man... Sam
I owned the Bushwacker for a little while t bought it from mike while it was sitting in the back of Hat Racing my dad made me gove it back i never moved it that pic is at Fremont
Here ya go , I happen to have an extra lying around if you are so inclined to make a "black widow" clone....I'd like to move this thing befroe the weather hits here in Hillbillysville....
'57's rule.....my fav of the tri-5's..... Can't go wrong with a nose high, front bumper/grill missing 210.....looks like yer already there man... There was a yellow one years ago (late 70's?) in Car Craft, a 210, with the engine set back and the driver sat in back seat...but was a street car. Totally bad*** car.. I love me a g***er '57....but ironically...this is my "new" all-time fav....
I agree! I have one piece 57 frame, a Nova rearend and reversed eyelet leaf springs. I want to give my daily driver, a look a little more similar to this. I'mma run chrome rims, with spider caps. I like this seven, a lot
Please leave the front bumper on. Without it, it looks like an overbite, and I think of Goofy laughing like "uh-HILT! uh-HILT!" Anyway, this is a HORRIBLE angle of my all-time fav '57:
Love the '57 2dr sedans and wagons! Definitely on my list of cars I'd like to own some day. Some inspiration for ya.
