I just bought a Zephyr from a fellow hamber. I haven gone to pick it up yet, but I will soon. I have been a big Zephyr fan probably since I saw my first one. Im so excited that I can hardly keep myself under control.

did you do a search? I thought there was already at least one Zephyr thread. Zephyrs are so cool - neighbor kid bought one in 1958....he just wanted the engine, sold the body to the shop teacher...who just used it to teach welding, GRINDING!!!!, CUTTING!!!!! and then it was scrapped....and - the stupid kid never did use the engine for anything - just sat in a spot on the side of the garage and turned everything nearby to a rusty hue of neglected iron. He never graduated either, so we can all surmise what sort of person he is today....

Not much to show right now, several projects in the wings so to speak.
In fact, I'm on the road home right now from Minnesota with the latest, another 37 coupe destined to become a convertible some day.

  18. Marcy's been hunting down and hoarding these cars for several years now and I figure that she's saving them for retirement (Hahaha!)!

Could be worse... she has a thing for 1936-37 Stude Dictators and President coupes as well!;)

I have to correct this: Timo Hersti is from Finland. Anyway, one of the most beautiful kustoms ever built.

  20. My Dad's '39 convertible sedan on the way to a race in Council Bluffs Iowa in the fall of 1948. Not a great pic, but it's the only one I have of the car. Dad used it for his tow car for 3 years. He loved the V 12. He said 70 mph with the trailer was all it would do, but it would do it uphill, down hill, and on the flat. This rig made two trips from LA to Lincoln, Nebraska, and the only problem it ever had was a broken rear axle outside Gallup, New Mexico. The midget is still in the family, but the Zephyr is long gone.

Cool My dad always tells me how they took there Zephyr to washinton during the war. My grandfather had got a job in a ship yard there. He also told me they had a broken axel too.

  23. I think broken axles may have been common on Zephyrs. They had the same rearend as Fords, but were a considerably heavier car.

Here's my 41 coupe, 63k original that was creatively deskirted in the 50's, just found some skirts and an Edmunds intake for it, going down a couple inches or so too.

Here's one I have been trying to buy for a few years. Still has the V-12 in it. It was driven into this barn 25 years ago.
