Wow! Nomenclature is wierd. The 5 borough folks think anything north of Westchester is upstate, and Ulster, Green and Dutchess (though most folks would consider them Hudson Valley,) to us in central NY,they are downstate, The Capital Saratoga region doesn't seem to exist. Folks in Syracuse think Buffalo is WNY, and Folks in Buffalo think they are upstate, Everyone knows, Binghamton is Souther tier, and Potsdam Governeour, Watertown are Northern NY. Rochester is between CNY and WNY, but doesn't get talked about much, and Nobody in the metro area can find it on a map, (unless they are running drugs). The Adirondacks are next to Lake George.

So where are we really? Some folks in the Mohawk valley thought they were in the Leatherstocking Region, but Albany told them they were wrong, and are now in Central NY.

    So I'm intorducing a simplified system;

Those that know what an egg cream, and Yoohoo are are NEW YAWKAS (ie metro, LI, Westchester) and a bit north.

Those that call carbonated beverages Soda, are Upstaters or Central NYers

Those who call carbonated beverages POP are Western, New Yorkers.

Those who call unflavored carbonated water Seltzer are just too wierd and nobody likes them anyway.

The people in Binghamton are kinda out of luck and should allign with some place in PA, and those along the ST Lawrence river, should consider themselves Canadians, just like their cell phones try to tell them they are, as it seem International Roaming charges apply within 30 miles of the river. And we know that Verizon sets the damn rules.

So, I drink soda therefore I are a Central NYer. Hey Hillbilly the geographic center of the state is about 30 miles SE of you in Pratt's Hollow.

Will this help clear thins up a bit????

Proper answer to this question from a NY'r is "Fuckin Aa" or you grab your crotch and say" Heres ya fuckin NY, right here"!lol
    Anything else is not acceptable!!
And if you grew up in NY you know that anybody can be cured all they need is a "beatin" & if its a minor problem a "smack in da mouth" will straighten them out!!

I know that, but if you sneeze at that intersection you've missed it. I didn't say it because I had my doubts anyone here would know what the hell I was talkin about.

Since were all here....does anyone know which car clubs were around in NY during the '50s-'60s. I know that the Tappet Twirlers from Rome were founded in 1956. Just curious so see what else is out there. Perhaps we could revive a defunk club. I've been wanting to join a car club, but not one that allows brand new corvettes/camaros/challengers/mustangs......

I was at a gas station a while a go and bought a couple slices of pizza(i know, gas station pizza, yum) anyways, the girl working the counter said I get a free pop top because I bought 2 pieces. I just stood there with a dumbfounded look on my face. I had no frigging clue what she was talking about. Yeah, I drink Soda too.

A couple of buddies and I have been talking about starting a hot rod/custom bike club. Nothing too formal, just to put a name to our time spent bullshitting around the shop. Some have hot rods, some just ride choppers of one sort or another. Would be cool to get something going.

For old club history, check out this link (scroll down to the "states" section):

This is the local club, like i said previously circa 1956. I found it on your link

I'm sure I would have no problem getting in, I just don't like the fact that its mostly muscle cars today. There is a club called the Road Knights locally also, but I've only seen a couple of there cars.

I agree with the "nothing to formal" comment, that would take all the fun out of it. What I'd like to see is a bunch of guys with old school rods customs and bikes just hanging out, throwin a few back, goin on runs, and maybe helping each other out on their projects.

Sidney, 35 miles NE of Binghamton on Route 88. Downstaters think that we get a lot of snow but, compared to what happens north of us, we're a vacation spot.
