Gang, From a pile of recent magazine tear sheets, I noted a photo of actor Don Francks (the hippie armorer from the first Nikita TV series) 25 T speedster, "Quick Silver." I tried a web search, but can't find much on this car. Anyone know more? Thanx, Gary
Gary; you need to do a search for (mercury speedster). Also check out the sites below. I met Don & saw his car at the 08 Detroit Autorama. Beautiful car and very open and genuine person. Have pictures but can't find at moment. http://www.hubgarage.com/hubtv/channels/5/videos/101 http://www.flickr.com/photos/carphotosbyrichard/5646030985/ Bill.
...this one? No details... http://apps.detnews.com/apps/joyrid...p?id=2692&searchby=singlecar&gallery=carofday
As a matter of interest, here is a photo of a programme from the BC Custom Car Association car show in Vancouver, BC....1956. Don Francks roadster at the bottom of the page.
Gary.I know of the speedster you are asking about..I parked next to Don years ago and he had it at a local show.Very nice and it was black at the time. A very nice guy... but...the pics I took..I cannot find. sorry.
Again, thanx to all who pitched in on this. The previous thread covered it pretty good, also. The wheels and tires take some getting adjusted to, but the treadplate is really hard on the eyes. LOVE that body... wish someone would start making them again! I heard you can't even get them in glass anymore (for those of us who are not skilled enough to bend one up). Gary
The speedster inquestion was pu together by a guy named Jim McBurney from Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada. I believe the car is stored at his shop in Niagara falls.
Oh, Jeez. We should have quit while we were ahead. MJ, are you SURE you think the one you saw is the Francks car? He's been a hot rodder for quite awhile. Gary
I built Dons Car if you are talking about the 1925 Mercury Bodied Quicksilver hg polished aluminum , its sitting in my shop
By the way Dons Last name, is not Franks its Francks , if this is same guy you are talking about the only Canadian actor i know of with that name
WJ McBurney, Very sorry about the typo in the subject line. I knew better. I got the first one corrected, but evidently the changes aren't global thru the rest of the thread. Also sorry about the builder's references. Let me see if I have it correct now. Just the body was built by Mick Lewis and the car builder, yourself, WJ McBurney (also referred to in the video as Wilber James and in some posts above as Jim McBurney) are one in the same? Am I correct now? Again sorry for the foul ups, I sure hope I have it correct now. Gary
