A little more on the leaping and darting, I remember watching the Strip Teaser Falcon from behind leaving the starting line and making runs and it too literally leaped when it took off. Nicholson's and others Comets did he same for the most part when they were running the lift bars. I don't remember any making a good straight run with out "leaping" around down the track.

I've always liked the 64 for the similarity of the front end to the 65 Fairlane.

"Lift Bars" as mounted on Platts "Georgia Shaker III". The steep upward angle of the bar (as well as its relativly short length) caused the body & rear end to seperate under acceleration (tires down - body up).

Chrysler springs do the same thing, the Hemi ones especially.

Those are the correct lift bars that DST made for the 64 T Bolts and Comets AFX cars the cradle is shown up side down in the picture. The lift arms needs a 1.50 radius cap that fit on top of the axle housing and welded 360 deg. around the housing. There is also 2 large plates between the cradle and the floor pan on both sides of the drive shaft tunnel to weld the unit it together. By the way the lift bars look compleatly differant on the 65 AFX Comet Cyclone then the 64 Comet AFX cars. On the 65 AFX and BFX were the same in the beginning with out side lift bars by the springs. The BFX Comets remained the same, they made the changed on the 65 AFX Comet with the 427 ci SOHC and Hi Riser cars not long after the release date in Feb. 65. With a Hard Launch it would twist the axle housing UP which changes drive shaft angles. It will do the same thing using a Cal Track setup with a standard 8 inch rear end. _____AFX DAVE____

Well I'm finally able to get on here. Didnt get home till late Mon. night and had to work right away the next day. Got to pay to play.

Oh and this Morning woke up to 5 inches of fricken snow with another 5 to go.Shoveled all morning long. This Sucks. Thats it I'm moving back west. Perfect weather out there at Bakersfield, Those guys are spoiled. Had to hurry up and put antifreeze back in the race car.

But all in all what a way to end the season. It was awesome out there.Perfect weather,Perfect Track, Not the best run format but I was glad I was there.

Car ran great, Consistently in the Nines now. Lowered the launch a little looking for more speed and got it a best of 9.95 and top speed at 138.

Got into the final four with Roy, Furthest I've been so far. They were starting to speed up the runs and my clutch was over heating and started to grab in the staging lights on my last run.I didnt set the roll control on the line and my car creeped into a Red light. I have to say the most hopless feeling there is, I was so pissed. The car was within three tenths all weekend. Leason learned the hard way.

The Comet turnout was awesome, Most race Comets I've seen together in one place yet.Everyone was great. Roy and Dale were the best. You need to see Dales car up close, it was Awesome. Roys car was one of the cleanest 65's I've seen and ecspecially for beeing raced since 67. Todds Comet is just plain in your face "I'm going to kick your ass" Attitude.

Got to hang out with Gas Ronda, Hubert Platt, Butch Leal, Ed terry, Earl Wade, all weeked. Hanging out at the A/FX cars. Charlie Morris had his new Book there.

Keep tuned for some Comet TV today and some pics. Being that I'm Stuck in the Snow all day, What else am I going to do.

    Heres some pics

This guy looks Suspicious. Dont let the innocent look fool you. He can get a guy in trouble. As soon as the live Band started a Wild man. Fast Eddies Moonshine may have helped a little though.

Great Show, and a ton of fun with the A/FX group. And Ken, out my way, we have about 15 inches of snow, still falling, with some serious wind. I am glad we missed that on the road!

Todds Comet has the T-Bolt Traction Bars on this Comet and they are working great. Cal Trac single leaf springs, and a 10.5 tire. Car Hooks awesome. Fast Eddie has an Awesome Video hopefully he will post.
