This is built on a truck chassis from White vintage 1922 and the huge body built by Smith & Waddington in Camperdown, Sydney, Australia.
But this body type is called a Charabanc, the same name is also used for buses with open bodywork that was common at this time. This White charabanc had room for 15 people and had been ordered by Mr Day. He used it for New South Wales Tourist Bureau excursions and adventures in the wild Australia.

This is a modern body recreation of the one-off A.L.F.A. specially made in 1913 by Carrozzeria Castagna for Count Ricotti. In fact was an standard car model Tipo 40/60 hidden inside an enveloping aero shell.
Soon later on, the body was reviewed to have the half top section removable.

The car resides in the worth visiting Alfa-Romeo Museum of Arese, near Milano.

1953. Maiden speed testing for the Bisiluro Special in a deserted straight of Tona-Vic road. C. Fernandez chief tester and occasionaly race driver, at the wheel. The Roots- compressed DOHC V8 2.5 L is located in the centre, between the "torpedoes".

And while we're on this "train" of thought
    - how about a whole flock of Canadian
    National Railway's 6400-series streamlined
    'Northerns'??! :)

Thanks for the train pics. I got to ride the Hiawathas for free when I was a kid by myself. My dad worked for the Milwaukee Road and had a pass for the family to use. Couldn't send a kid on AMTRAK these days.

One more on those incredible 120-plus-mph
"absolutely Art Deco to the max" PRR Baldwin
TI streamliners. Here's a Pennsylvania Rail
Road ad, circa 1945, promoting them. Besides
the locomotive, note all the smoke, steam and
fire belching from the factories in the background.
This was an era when such things were considered
a sign of progress and economic prosperity and
for better or worse, you'll never, ever see an ad
    like this published today.
