Being a MOPAR guy, always liked Vanishing Point for the car. Movie wast bad either. Two lane was an ok movie, I guess, but I'd have to agree with Squirell, Blues brothers is a car guys movie, great tunes, dark sunglasses, and a fast old MOPE doing crazy stunts inside a mall, sure miss John Belushi.
Yes - this is worth a watch fer sure and 2 Lane Blacktop does not feed my attention deficit disorder very well.... so Vanishing Point for me .... who doesnt wanna see a camaro blast into a bulldozer yes CAMARO http://users.wowway.com/~tjasiewicz/VanishingPoint/vpbehind.htm
a T Bird that she drives is not very Hot Rod.... you wanna see a good old movie with hot rods - Dragstrip Girl is soooo much better
^ Yes, 'Thelma & Louise' and 'the Blues Brothers'. Also, you can show them to your friends and know they won't be bored. Unlike 2LBT & VP.
You know Ron... "RoadRacers" (The Robt Rodiquez) movie is actually pretty good although not many people even know it exists. David Arquette and Selma Hyack....56 Chevy convertible (same car that had a short take in Planet Terror) I have the DVD and the full size movie poster. Anyway...I like Vanishing Point....how could you not? The entire movie is a chase scene...But what has me wondering here is no one has mentioned Hot Rod...done in 1974 I believe, the one with the Junkyard Willys...Munns Root Beer Nationals.....Great movie....Second only to American Graffiti in my book. When I go to my grave I will take Hot Rod and American Graffiti in DVD with me...the others can stay here.
There must be over a hundred of these "best car movie" threads already on the H.A.M.B. ... Did we really need another one? With the exception of the '55 Chevy in Two-Lane Blacktop, the majority of the cars in these two movies are pretty "Off Topic" for the H.A.M.B. ... click thumbnail to view pics of the vehicles used in each movie ... and therefore this thread will most likely be by the Moderators. That said ... being a Mopar nut, my vote is for Vanishing Point.
If your interested in movies with a lot of older cars, like from '30s,'40s,'50s try--"Gun Crazy", "Bonny & Clyde","To Please a Lady", "The Big Wheel", "Bad Boys Of he Road" and...... a bunch more I cant think of right now...
Behind the Green Door, oh that wasn't an option was it. Well then I guess neither I thought they were both a little out of touch with reality. Actually I never have been a real hot rod movie guy, actually never really a porn guy either that was just the only one that I knew the name of.
hot rod 79, gator , american graffiti, greased lightning , dirty mary crazy larry , and deuce of spades
as far as movies go ill take vanishing point two lane bores me but the cars the 55 wins never cared much for challengers
Actually there was one made I believe in the '70s maybe the '80s called Corvette Summer that was fun to watch lame as hell but it was OK if you were twisted enough when watched it.
HotRod Willy? Is that the one where they stole the engine from a cop car? I love that movie, I think??? I was like 7 that was 30 years ago.
Well, I don't know how you've lived your life, but if it's heaven, they're probably already playin' (or you might even get to live it), and if it's hell, all the dvd players will be broken! --REPENT! I agree totally with your 2 favorites though. Hot Rod, while a bit hokey at times, is the kind of movie that just sticks with ya. And AG, what can I say, it's as close as it gets to the way it was for a lot of us.
do you mean macon county line ? with don johnson and nick nolte the 57 didnt have flame throwers though the ron howard movie was called eat my dust
When I was a kid in the late seventies they used to play movies weekday afternoons on the local NBC station, the sensors were asleep at the wheel the day Vanishing Point rolled and I remember that scene getting through. Now that was a real After School Special! Still, Two Lane gets my nod, tri-fi's over muscle anyday.
