Hey new here but not to hot rodding.
Anyway, I heard about this guy that made garnish moldings for 32 5w doors.
Darrell Gilstrap out of Joplin MO.
I called him about the parts and he said he could make up a set, unwelded, because my car is chopped, for $250.00. I thought that was reasonable, so I sent him a money order for the $250.00. Now I can't get a hold of him.
Anyone know or hear of this guy before or get any parts from him?
Hopefully, I didn't get ripped off.

    Any help?

    Sid

    Have you tried Google? http://www.google.com/search?q=Darr...s=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a

Being as the person lives or lived in Joplin did you send him the money before the Tornado hit? or after? We have one member on here who probably knows everyone in Joplin who is involved in old cars or knows of them.

Now just because you found the HAMB on Google or Yahoo doesn't excuse you from posting a proper introduction in the introduction section.

Wow guys! I guess I was not aware of the proper etiquette here.

Well- You know my name. I live in the central NY area. I'm a mechanical engineer. Here is a pic of my car:

I was not trying to be an ass. Just trying to get some help. I'm not even putting the guy down, I just can't get a hold of him. I sent the money after the troubles in Joplin.
Also, as I did some searching here in the board archives, I found some past threads from people that had good and bad experiences getting the same parts. I wish I had searched befor I sent the money!

So, I hope this makes up for my past transgression.

  10. If he was in Joplin last spring he may have gotten himself sucked off. He'll probably get back on it as soon as his eyes roll back around straight.

When did you send the money? You are aware if he is making them to order that it isn't a 10 minute job.

Well, I certainly realize that he can't just pop them out like popcorn. I just could not get a hold of him to even confirm he got my money.
As it turns out, I did get a hold of him this morning. Like I said, I'm not trying to put the guy down. Like anyone of us, if you send out money to somebody that you don't know to do or make something, it's a gamble.
He assured me that he got my money and that the parts will be sent out today or Monday. I look forward to getting them.

glad you got ahold of him, if need be in the future, if he does not hold to his word, send me a pm. ill go by and get your parts for ya and send them to you.

his adress is way clear of any tornado action, with that said i don't think hes trying to screw you, probably just a bad businessman.

  20. Yea, I should also mention that it is purdy. I still prefer 5 windows to 3 windows but I cannot for the life of me tell you why.

Hey thanks guys for the kind words about my car.
I'll post an introduction in the intro thread.
Porknbeaner, no worries. I call that doin' the dance.
Gotta see if the new guy can fit in.

Yea, I've always liked the 5w over the 3w too.

Good intro.....its there now. Holy crap. With tools like that in your shop and building tiny freaking engines/trains you should have built your own parts and bought beer with the $250!!!! lol
