I've been working on this Merc for about a year now, and have just about finished my part. We had a bit of a photo shot yesterday, and Han's has allowed me to put some photo's on the web to see what people think? Cheers Steve SS.ENGINEERING & FABRICATION. 0431 787 088
looks a bit modern for my taste. do a post about your Ute. us Americans are nutty about utes since we didn't get any.
Well I don't like the color of it. Sorry I just couldn't resist. I like the lines alright. Don't see a lot of hard topped fast backs, guess I just don't hang with the correct crowd or something. The hood is tacked shut? It is going to have an opening hood correct? Or is it a flip nose? Too many questions?
Profile looks good.but for my personnel taste,I would lose the wheels and tailights.the rear window is not an improvement, its hard to find better than the original back gl***.
Nice work, many hours spent. I like the hardtop look.It takes away the heavy bulky look of the car. That is a huge front end to make a tilt but hay if that is what the owner wants ,there ya go.I personally don't like the wheels, they belong on a late model car. What I like about customs is there not belly****on cars.Everyone has there own taste. I like it, good job.
If the front flips, does it motivate forward before it flips...that's a lot of sheetmetal to move around and up...I'd think the lower fenders would be travel over the doors as it flips. I don't mind the chop or the shape of the roof...different strokes for different folks and I'd ***ume you used a four door as the doors look much longer than a stock two door...overall, I like it... I see some beautiful workmanship in there and many many hours of labor. Nice job. I really like the skirt effect with no visual line where the skirts hang. Looks like part of the fender is removable. That rock! I'm hoping to have something similar on my Cadillac. Oh and the bumpers look sweet too! I'm not a fan of the taillights but hell it's going to be a really nice ride. Could you post a few pictures of how you remove the fender to access the wheels?
I have to agree with the others and say I'm not a fan of the wheels or taillights, but the rest of the car looks great to me, lots of great metall work!
well...since you asked for it, i think the proportions are ...awfull ! looks like you enlarged it , i would say both roof and fenders, and it make the body look smashed ! The sectioning is well proportioned from the side , but don't work from the front, due to the enlargement ... the fast back roof, may be pirated front a chevy fleetline is a very good idea, but the looooong trunk looks goofy as are the too long doors. Lotsa work for sure , but it don't work to me , sorry
Thanks for the input guy's. The back window is fabricated, so gl*** will be made for it. The flip front will split at the belt line trim. All the work I have put in is just for a plug for a fibregl*** mold, and they say the steel body will never be used? That is why it is so wide, to fit the wheel track of a late model GM. It will basically be a kit car. The bumpers are cut 49 Caddy front bumpers. Cheers Steve.
