I hate these damn things! I worked for a concreter for a while before I joined the Army and he had one of these that would occasionally start up but run in reverse. They don't turn fast but going backward they can dig there way into the half dry concrete pretty deep!

There is a story about this car. Designer Bill Mitchell wanted the car painted EXACTLY like the embalmed mako shark hanging in his office. After several futile attempts to meet his demands, the styling dept, in desperation, painted the fish to match the car during a long weekeng that The Boss was away. Coming back the following Monday and shown the results Mitchell finally was pleased.

I know the movie was in B/W but has anyone ever heard what color Robert Mitchum's '57 Ford actually was? Someone had to be around when the movie was being filmed.

Just watched an interesting documentary on Pathe newsreels, saved these screenshots of a Ford Pickup out in the african desert in ww2. Check the sand tyres, scoops in the bonnet and right hand drive.

There are some violations of the laws of physics at work in that picture. At a minimum there is no engine or tranny in that car. There has to be more weight forward of the rear axle of the tow truck than is behind it.
